I have taken 3 courses with Hanley during my undergrad and he is hands down the BEST professor I have ever had. He really cares about his students and makes the two hour long lectures enjoyable. He is also a very fair essay marker. As long as you go to class, the 40% essay is an easy A. 10/10 recommend !!

Generally I'd argue he's an awesome teacher all around! Very friendly and willing to get to know his students individually. Sometimes his sense of humour can be a little crude but he's lots of fun and willing to help out his students where he can!

Dr. Hanley has been teaching french for a number of years, and it shows. This course is highly philosophical, and he teaches it enthusiastically. As a result, the material is endlessly interesting. He is kind, funny and smart, which make for great lectures.

Dr. Hanley is great. Would recommend this course to anyone with basic knowledge of French. He was the only 1st year prof who actually cared about students and the small class size means he knows you on a first name basis. He also loves to make everyone speak as often as possible (for practice and just because he wants to get to know you). Easy A

Amazing prof. The best Fr. prof ive had at Mac. His class revolves around reading quotes from the novels and explaining them and class diss. The term essay was easy IF you go to class and take notes. He is extremely approachable, you should talk out the essay with him. The final was 2 of 3 essay questions. The course itself was really interesting.

One of the best French teachers I have ever encountered. He loves his job and it really shows. Attend his classes - he loves to make jokes but also gets the job done. He makes the material very clear. Do your homework and don't forget to study vocabulary for his quizzes. Trust me, you want this prof!

Seems like a sweet old man but can sometimes become quite rude. Make sure you do your homework or he'll blacklist you from the get-go. Gets frustrated easily but is an easy marker. Definitely self-righteous like most french teachers i've encountered.
