Comment:
Hastings is one of the worst professors I've had at Fordham. He is unorganized, unclear and acts like all the material is easy / trivial which can get discouraging. You'd be better off reading the textbook for an hour instead of going to class. He's a pleasant man, and very intelligent, but not a good professor.

I had Professor Hastings for Math for Business: Calculus and he was super helpful. Every week I took advantage of his office hours and he was really good about answering my questions and making sure I understood what I was doing. If you have him, do your work, take advantage of his office hours, and you'll definitely be able to get an A.

Professor Hastings is one of the worst teachers I have ever had in my life. He does not make any sense in class, so you basically are your own teacher if you take him for Finite. He is not very nice if you go in for office hours. Do not take this class unless you are good at teaching yourself EVERYTHING.

If you haven't taken calculus before, don't take Professor Hastings. His lectures consist of convoluted and non-sensical problem solving methods. The class is easy if you already know the material, but you're in trouble if you don't.

In defense of Prof. Hastings I'd like to just say that I went from a C- to an A- by taking Prof. Hastings seriously, which many do not. Was always available to help outside of class, was always prompt in responding to emails, and was a genuine help. No, he will not coddle you. And if that is not your cup of tea, then yes. Drink another cup of tea.

Seems to a nice man but dont know how to teach. He keep whispering to himself and the layout of the class is chaotic. And his grading is not clear. But the syllabus itself is easy. You can probably get an A by selfstudying.

HORRIBLE professor. Basically what everyone else says, you can barely hear him when he speaks, he over complicates everything, it's very easy math but he makes it much harder and if you dont do it his way you dont get credit... Online homework is probably the only good thing about the class, exams/midterm is harder than expected ..

He's the worst teacher I have ever had in my entire life. He makes the quizzes ridiculously easy to give you a false sense of security in the class and then makes the midterm borderline impossible. I had to withdraw from the class because I went from a literal A to almost an F. 10/10 would not recommend. FYI this class was meant for NON MATH MAJORS

Hastings is the most horrible professor I've ever had. He over-complicates everything, and leaves little room for explanation. He makes you study a long list of "test questions", and ultimately doesn't include any of the questions you studied for. Let's you bring a cheat sheet but even that doesn't help. AVOID TAKING HIM.

The worst teacher I've ever had in my entire life. Boring, doesn't talk loud enough, isn't clear, doesn't even teach. He just starts talking and writing things on the board with minimal explanation, and the explanations that he DOES give are unclear and make no sense. I learned from MyMathLab how to do the homework. He didn't teach in class, BEWARE

Although he can sometimes ramble on, he is overall a good teacher. The online homework are not very tough, and any offline homework are not that bad either. He sometimes is unclear in the lectures. There are weekly quizzes that are easy. The exams are not too difficult if you study. He is a funny and probably one of the better Finite professors.

I'll start this off by saying I'm awful at math. Professor Hastings is pretty boring, but the notes you take in class are really important. You get online homework for pretty much class and offline homework for every other class. You have to do the homework as it's a pretty big part of your grade. The tests are kinda hard, but again I suck at math.

Look! He's a nice guy and all. But he's not the best teacher and he doesn't have the best sense of humor either. However, the class isn't impossible and you can easily do well if you put in the minimal effort. All of the tests are ridiculously curved and the homework is fairly easily. I wouldn't take him unless you absolutely need to

WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HEARD IN MY ENTIRE ACADEMIC CAREER. I'm only a freshman and was told his class was easy because he lets you have cheat sheets on the tests but guess what? They don't help at all. DO NOT TAKE HIM.

Sweet old man but sometimes can have a little attitude. Online homework is extremely easy. Textbook homework is a little harder, but go to his office hours and the math lab. He'll help you and will like you more if he sees you trying. 3 exams total, let's you use cheat sheet. Class is easy to do really well in if you put it the basic effort.

Pretty confusing at times when he teaches. However I always seem to learn something every class. Online homework is easy. Offline homework in the textbook is graded for correctness and can be a little tough. Tests are easy; you can bring a sheet of paper front and back to write equations and stuff on it. He's little confusing and dry, but easy

Dr. Hastings is a pretty easy teacher although his lessons are dull and he can be confused when he explains things. Your textbook will come in handy. His test aren't hard like other reviews say plus lets you use a cheat-sheet. Online HW will only help your grade. If you want an easy A, he's the way to go.
