Dr. Murray is one of my favorite teachers. Few exams and almost always multiple choice. Don't slack off though, because the multiple choices are hard. Be confident and don't let his sarcasm intimidate you.

Dr. M is by far the best professor I've had. He's tough, but it's for the benefit of his students. Exams are multiple choice, and they aren't that hard if you read and go over in class notes. At first, he's intimidating and makes you rethink your entire career choice, but at the end of the course you will feel accomplished and happy you did it.

. Although his exams are tough, you can guarantee yourself a B by reading the textbook for main points while combining lecture notes. He is partial and favors certain students over others. If your not his fav, no A. He is a great guy, if you get to know him which is next to impossible. Had to camp out several times his office to catch him tho.

Have to read the book to pass, Favors certain students, If you are really smart you are on his good side and if you are not a straight A student he doesnt help you that much. Sometimes really rude and expect you to know everything.

Very difficult course but if you want to learn and actually retain the essentials of hematology, take it with him in the Fall and not the online-version in the Spring. All exams are MC. Go to lecture and read every chapter to do well on exams. He may make you feel defeated at times, but you'll feel very accomplished at the end of his course.

He is undoubtedly one of the hardest + best professors at SJSU. You will probably feel like a failure a few times here and there throughout the semester with his hard exams, but his methods of teaching are very effective and you will learn a lot from him. You must read every chapter to do well on his exams. All exams are MC too, which is nice.

Enjoys challenging students and isn't afraid to push buttons. Put up with the occasional snark and sarcasm and you'll learn a lot. Sit in the front row so he gets familiar with you - then it's easier to approach him with questions - and you'll catch hear some of the innuendo other students miss ;)

Hematology was one of the hardest classes I've ever taken, but I got so much out of it. Don't let him scare you off the first few weeks. He does that to weed out the people who won't do well. I honestly feel like I learned something that is applicable in the real world. Also highly recommend taking the lab.

He might be a pain, but he is, and the tests are fair. Last year, he was quite scary and even as an advisor, he is a bit too stern. I have no doubt that he can be fair, but he can be a strict father when you have to learn material in Bio 4, Micr 141(L) and Micr 140. So keep up.

took 141/142 in 09 and 140 this fall 2010. He is one of the best @ SJSU. Clear on what he expects. Doesn't "read" the book in his lectures so read+attend class. He will sometimes share "stories" which cement in your mind. I will miss taking a class from him. People who failed either didn't like the material or read or go to class.

He's unapproachable + unprofessional(we all know Katya has his personal phone number while we all had to sit and listen to her brag about her calling him at night, him telling her what is on an exam in his office and how she can get him to do whatever she wants). I have a better grade than all of his favorites but it won't matter. SUPER PARTIAL

Lectures are very well organized and summarize assigned reading with some new info scattered throughout. Still, reading is a must. Exams are fair. He is really big on "connecting the dots". Hands out case studies that are more challenging than the ones that pop up on exams. Not afraid to share his opinion of people, so don't do anything stupid.

Worst professor in the entire department. He knows the material but not passionate about teaching and helping students. He hates, hates, and hates teaching and makes his student pay for it. Terrible professor.

obviously NOT interested in teaching this class. pretty much said so the first day. tests projected as powerpoints, many questions unclear. learned a lot about BSCs, not much about anything else. too bad he's the only one who teaches this class. at least it's only four class meetings. :(

Mood swings but deep down a caring professor. Snaps at you some days, really nice other days. Busy guy, so work hard to catch him if you have questions. Lect's super fast so be ready. Read ahead ALL the time, it's a hard class to play catch-up in. Despite what he says, I felt it was more like 90% text, 10% lecture for exams. Tricky multiple choice.
