Overall he is a pretty decent professor, the feedback on assignments was really good and he always emailed us after class sessions to remind us of what we had to get done before the next meeting. One issue I did have though was that he gave off the impression that his class was the priority, like we didn't have other things to do.

I have had Dr. Reader for quite a few classes. His classes are challenging but if you do the assignments they are easy! You learn a lot and he is very open for questions. Best Professor I have ever had!!

My favorite class at CMU by far. He is the most intelligent man I have come across in regards to world history. You MUST go to class to get the notes. Also do all required readings. He makes lecture very interesting and engaging. I was actually sad once the class was over.

Reader is one of the most informed teachers out there. He is engaging and fun to hear. But you better go to class, do your reading, and take notes. If you don't, you're likely not going to get a good grade.

Dr. Reader is incredibly knowledgeable, and his lectures are very easy to follow. However, everything from his lectures (including Hebrew words) and from the book (which he sometimes will not go over in class) is fair game on exams. Take a lot of notes and don't miss class, or you will be lost.

Attendance thru pop quizzes. This is for my major--I do the assigned reading, study notes, and do well on the exams which are mixed in layout. Few of his notes are put on the board so you must write down what you hear in the lecture..but the way Dr. Reader presents the material it is more like a discussion, his knowledge and interest are engaging.

I loved this class! Reader is one of the most brilliantly intelligent profs I have met. Class is interesting and flys by! Tests are hard but keep up with reading and get to know his nuances and you will do fine. Heavy curve. Don't miss class or you will be lost class & books are fair game on exams. Pay attention to greek words they'll be on exam

Professor Reader is one of the most knowledgeable professors I have ever meet. That being said, he is useless at giving paper feedback. All the information is interesting but anything that is assigned is fair game on tests and quizes, including any date mentioned. Dates and maps are important. Overall, great class and interesting teacher.

You will ALWAYS have stuff to read. He expects you to read and remember every little detail. I was looking for an easy UP, and this DEFINITELY wasn't it. He LOVES to talk, and always keeps us about 2-3 minutes over the regular time. He does curve though, so that makes it a little easier. There are 6 pop quizzes, if you miss 4 you automatically fail

I've never had so much reading to do in my life. The professor knows his stuff, but tests are all essay/fill in the blanks. He expects you to remember EVERY piece of information, including dates, names, places, etc. If you're looking for an easy UP class, this isn't it. I was looking forward to the class, but halfway through I wanted to kill myself

Great professor! Knows a lot about the subject and is always willing to help. Lectures are always interesting, I never missed a class. The class itself is very hard, so if you are looking for an easy class, dont take this one.

If you're interested in the material and don't mind learning peripheral, largely moot theories, histories, etc (etymology, latin phrases) not necessarily eluded to in the syllabus, he's a good prof to take. If you're only in the class to learn what you need to get by, *cough* seniors *cough* you might want to consider C/NC.

This class and this professor are both awesome! The class covers a large time span but the class is broken up into easy portions. This guy knows his stuff so you have to keep up with the reading to get a good grade. The test are not easy but they are curved. Awesomle Class and awesome professor. Take it if you can.

For trying to fit the whole OT into one semester, he does a good job. The tests are hard, but he curves heavily. Read! It helps a lot! Go to class too. He's a very smart, yet funny guy. Tight Pants!
