Pilkey is a pretty good prof, though he always made a habit of showing up 5 minutes late for each class :(. His midterms and finals are fair, and he presents the course material clearly (albeit SLOWLY). He seems pretty disorganized, but he is always willing to help and genuinely cares about your success :)

Super easy prof. Lectures move so slow I can fall asleep, wake up, and still know what's going on. That being said, very clear presentation of course material

Amazing professor. I honestly want more professors like him. If you follow his pre-made, simple, clear, and concise notes, you will know exactly what's happening in class. Tests are relatively easy. I had him bio sci, a large room, so if you sit in the front of his class you will get more out of his classes and lectures.

Dr. Pilkey is a really good prof, his lectures and notes are clear and his quizzes and exams are pretty hard but totally fair.

Comment:
Professor Pilkey is one of the least kind and least helpfull professors at this university. He is a rather bright researcher but treats his classes as a venue to fail students for the fun of the activity. He refuses to respond to emails, meet with students outside of class, allow students to view their exams or to accomodate learning disabilities.

Good guy. Gave us free marks on our midterm which we could give up if we wanted it remarked. Course material (haha get it?) can be hard -- just do the (optional) weekly practice problems, show up for lectures, print out and bring his "fill-in-blanks" notes, and you'll be fine.

If you ask this professor to remark one question of your quiz, at his discretion he would remark the entire exam and reduce marks on another question. This dude was born to fail people and that is his ultimate goal in life. It's sad but true, this guy is the worst professor in the entire history of the mechanical engineering dept at Queen's!!!

HORRIBLE PROF, man has no heart, LOVES FAILING STUDENTS. Gets a sadistic pleasure out of failing students. Has some seriously high standards. Expects way too much. Only second year mech prof that says you must pass the final exam or else he would automatic flunk you. Profs like him deserve to be permanently banned from teaching. Be careful of him.

Given the importance of materials science to engineering design, I found this course to be interesting and useful. If you can conduct a proper lab and memorize some theory about the way materials behave at a molecular level, this course isn't that hard.

Terrible!!! I got a good mark, but I hated his policy 'A mark of 50% or better is "required" on the exam to pass the course' Yeah right! Are you trying to become the most difficult prof in MECH, pilkey? His exams are so hard and too many theory questions. Not a very good prof.

This is a difficult course, but he does a fairly good job of teaching it. I really wish that the web notes were available completed, it would be very helpful. Personally, I just found it kind of boring.
