Hes a great professor. He really breaks down what he wants to be done for his class and is always willing to help. Hes a great speaker. If you do the small assignments and readings he assigns, youll be fine. Theres no midterm, only a research paper, but he gives you plenty of time a guidance.

Dr. Rosenfeld is an amazing teacher. Very nice and helpful. He does assign a decent amount of work, but it isn't hard if you actually try to do it. Make sure you read the work because he does a lot of in class discussion and participation matters!! He tries hard to make sure everyone gets good grades, including many revisions of drafts. Take him!

At first I was really intimidated by the class, but Dr. Rosenfeld was really helpful in his office hours and with any questions I had. By the end of the semester I was much more confident and very happy with my grades. I had to work for my grade, but let's face it, it's an upper-level class... it shouldn't be easy.

He's a really nice guy and will help you but get ready to read poemsbooksshort stories and interpret them. He gives a lot of reading, but if you at least show you read and tried to understand it, you'll be fine. He does give some pop quizzes, so be ready, but he isn't a hard grader. 2 papers, a midterm and a final.

Talks a TON but is extremely intelligent. Really likes class involvement and asks for a lot of participation. Participating can REALLY help improve your writing and overall grade! Class can be confusing but do the work with full effort and ask questions! You'll be fine. Make an app. with him and he will help you with your paper!

Comment:
Some of the criticism we studied was genuinely insightful, (Stanley Fish and Harold Bloom) The novels, on the other hand, were nonsensical ramblings and an overall waste of time (Hunger). Rosenfeld is a bit pompous, but he's a pretty sharp guy, and he will help you to become a better writer and critic. You must be willing to work.

Nice guy.. but if you aren't an english major I wouldn't take his class. His exams are impossible and you literally need to memorize the 35+ poems you read word for word and understand them thoroughly. If you aren't into english I don't recommend taking him

He goes off on tangents but you can tell he loves what he teaches. Im not so sure about his intro classes but in the 400+ its no walk in the park. You will have to either make up something to make it look like you know what ur talking about or actually know what ur talking about. Its not easy to get an A here since his expectations arent clear!

he is a great teacher that provokes you to think critically and thoroughly. I know that sounds like a bad thing but i loved his class caus it wasn't just him lecturing to you, he had conversations with the class.

Dr.Rosenfeld is a great teacher. Before the class, I had no interest in poetry, but he made the class very interesting. I actually can say I understand how to interpret poetry after taking his class. His midterm, final, and the two papers for the class were pretty hard, but as long as you pay attention and keep up with the reading you'll be fine.

Okay I'm not an English major or anything but his class is fabulous. I think anyone who thinks less of him is an idiot. The only reason you shouldn't know everything about the english language is if it wasn't your first language. Great Class! Maybe you didn't do well because you are a terrible writer!!

This class has to be one of the toughest classes that I have taken so far at iona. I think he is a nice guy, but he cannot teach this course for****. He is very difficult to understand, and his papers are ridiculous. I honestly hated going to his class.

The class is a class that has to be taken, but if the teacher is completely rude, then that makes you hate the class even more. I hated going to this class every day of the semester, not only because of the class itself but because i felt the teacher to be unprepared and arrogant.
