Professor Mellen is very chill and usually laid back. I think her main problem is that she can be disorganized therefore the material being taught can be confusing. Not taught off a textbook just strictly lecture which is the confusing part. I personally think that the main issue is that she isn't clear enough with what topic she's teaching.

Professor Mellen's AMS111 Class was amazing, she follows her syllabus religiously, there is a lot of assignments that may seem like a lot of work but it is all extremely simple. You can miss a few classes without any serious issue. She is an actual professor who wants you to learn and understand what she is teaching. I enjoyed her class.

Very sweet lady, she follows the syllabus very closely. At first glance the work she assigns looks a lot but it really isn't (don't get intimidated), just read the assigned pages (not a lot) to the corresponding worksheet which doesn't take long to finish. Her exams come straight from her lecture albeit a bit disorganized but she'll clarify it.

Take a good amount of notes in her class, most of the things she says and covers in the class and in the homework will most likely be on the quizzes/exams. One of the downsides of the professor is that she's disorganized during a lecture and tends to go off tangent. On the plus side she is very understanding and is flexible to work with. Easy A.

She is very annoying. Eating is prohibited! DO NOT MAKE EYE CONTACT because she will call on you. Lots of reading. Follows the syllabus strictly. Late assignments are accepted and she wants everyone to work to the best of their ability. Overall, she is okay.

Be ready for a lot of reading and writing! Professor Mellen is extremely understanding and helpful but you must be prepared for class. Be ready to participate, make sure you know the material. She is a very good grader and hands back completed work in a timely manner. You will always know your progress in her class! I recommend her.

Professor Mellen is a sweet, kind woman who cares for her students always willing to help out with anything she can. Her class layout is pretty much on the syllabus (1 of 5) She assigns one for each unit. Be prepared to read some pretty long articles and expect to write about them. She is an easy grader and don't overthink the assignments. Easy A.

Professor Mellen is adorably cute & cheery. She may seem easy, but she's not, she's just right & completely fair. You can discuss deadlines with her if you have personal issues & she'll be understanding. Participate & get yourself ready for A LOT of reading & homework writing responses. She appreciates effort and has interesting topics. :

GOD FORBID you look her in the eye to pay attention during discussions. She LOVES to call people out for no reason. Few times are funny, most are offensive. Best of luck to you all. If you're lucky, you won't get embarrassed in class.

Dr. Mellen's class was probably the easiest class I've taken so far at Rutgers. All you have to do is pay attention and do the reading responses. The responses add up tremendously and she only checks if you do them. If you like history, take it, it's an easy A. I would definitely take another class with her.

Do not take this class! Horrible professor!! She makes everything so confusing and you must write reading responses for every reading she discusses in class. She grades with a weird point system in which you may think you are doing well but then end up receiving a horrible final grade. Her quizzes and tests consists of material never discussed.

She is a good teacher. The material is VERY boring, but I think it is easy. She is a great grader, more than fair. She knows all her stuff and is willing to help you out if you need it. She also records the classes which is a plus, but you must attend class because she is strict on attendance and this class never ends early.

She was very eager to help you at the end of the class but during class she was a bit disorganized. Her style is different, that i must say. Her quizzes are hard essay questions but she grades very easy so it balances out. Just do the reading responses and connect them to the time line and you should do fine. I got an A in her class that way.

Very nice lady and very intelligent in her field (history). Just as long as you do the reading assignments and do her reading responses as well as any reports (which are like 2 pages each) you will pass. Her tests are a little tough but she is very lenient on the grading the essays. Her exams come straight from her timelines and her readings

She goes overboard with the assignments, quizzes every week, reading responses on all textbook readings. Every class went 10 mins over. Also assigned a weekend museum assignment (who has time for that when you work?), and a book report. WAYYY too much work for a 3 credit course, take somebody else or another course to satisfy your requirement.
