Just had his class last week. Taking the once a week class. His TA's go over your assignments. So far, he's very friendly and easy to understand as far as lectures. Be warned: 90% of your grade is for the midterm/final. Their is also a required packet you must have (less than $10) and a recommended $120 textbook.

I had this class once a week, assigned one big group paper(131-5 people in a group) The T.A's were terrible, he on the other hand is pretty funny. He gave us a 20 minute break(at the halfway point of our 3 hour class)

I took History of Ancient Phil with Mirvish and it was good. Class is optional, except for the final. I would say that if you go to 75% of the lectures, take notes, and read the material you'll be totally good to go. His tests can be obscure and I think he does that to make sure that you've read the material and not just hit the Sparks Notes.

Most of the books contain material that can be found online for free. Class discussions occur regularly. Very light to no hw. Sometimes 1-2 group papers. Rarely there is a multiple choice midterm or final. How interesting and complex the topics in the class are depend on which class of his you take and vary throughout the semester

Honestly it's an interesting class if you participate. However, it's incredibly difficult to pay attention in this class. Mirvish is very smart in the subject, but his TAs have no idea what is going on. The entire grade was based on the Miderterm, Blackboard homework discussions, final paper, and the final exam. The final made no sense.

Grades consists of a midterm, final, and research paper. Paper's not so bad since it's in groups. The exams aren't so bad either as long as you go to class. The books not necessary as long as you go to class and take notes. He's a funny and kinda looks like the guy from jurassic park, he's got an accent and give you money when he like your answer

Boring boring class. Mirvish would forget the hw that was given. You had to do everything with your TA and never through him. tests are huge.

This class was really disorganized. Mirvish would forget what homework he assigned and rearrange test dates often. The tests were kind of hard, but you just have to know everything from the packet he gives out.

Great class discussions! Minimal assignments. I think he is the perfect philosophy teacher, he teaches through debate and discussion, there is always active participation in his class. Only one midterm and a final paper. Great Class!

If you're good at philosophy you'll like this class and do fine. If you, like me, are not good at the deep, farout, thinking you might not like it as much. He is a very cool guy and grades pretty easy. A bit unorganized, but knows what he's talking about. The class is all conversation and not mandatory. Don't buy the textbook. Three essays thats it

I really liked this prof. a lot he has interesting ideas and encourages philisophical debate and thinking. Rarely used the book, I wouldn't waste my money, attendance doesn't count but I feel like it helped that he knew me personally. Take notes and participate and you'll get a good grade.

He is very inspiring and full of knowledge. He wants to make sure his students fully understand the concept before moving on! His tests are very relevant to the lectures, so you do have to attend, but I promise that you will learn so much from his class!

A little odd, like his sensitivity to fluorescent lighting but overall the most inspiring and coolest teacher I've had here. If you're not very good with abstract theories this class might be a bit hard, but he's very good and knows his stuff. Reading won't help much so you definitely need to go to class, take notes, participate and you'll be fine.

Sort of difficult to make sense of. Asks questions that you feel you couldn't possibly know. The reading is slightly helpful. Grade is based solely on research paper and two exams (both essay). Very nice and interesting man though.
