I have taken 2 classes of Dr.Singhal. I found him very helpful and knowledgeable. Exams are not very easy but he expects you to know only what he teaches in class/homework. Very fair at grading. Probably one of the best professors at SJSU for mechanics. His class is serious business.Only take it if you are really intersted in learning.NO TIME PASS.

I agree he is a jerk. He's only helpful during the week that you can drop. Once the drop date is closed he changes into a whole different person. Dont be fooled. Drop while you can!!

Do not take this guy. Worst Civil engineering professor at SJSU. I have never met a professor who cares so little about his students. His lectures are difficult to understand due to his thick accent and he is a jerk during office hours. Had to spend many hours to teach myself the material.

Very organized. Easy to understand. HW is assigned a lot, but it helps students to learn the material. Exams are okay (some problems are very easy and similar to the HW). Fair grader. Listens to the students and makes arrangements for the students. The best professors in the Engineering department.

The people who said he was hard probably didn't even try in the class to begin with, so don't listen to them. He gives A LOT of hw, but he uses hw problems on tests. His lectures are easy to follow and very approachable. If you try, there's no reason why you shouldn't get a least a C.

He's a pretty good teacher & his reputation of being hard and unfair is false, imo. he gives lots of hwk but his tests are very fair. everyone screws up on the first test but he gives 4-5 EC quizzes. he has a fat curve as well. i would recommend him. he's pretty approachable & willing to help

I heard a lot of ppl complaining about his teaching method n his exams on the first day of class, but now that i've taken 2 of the midterms for the semester, i realized that he's a helpful professor during office hrs and his exams r fair. a lot of ppl were getting 80s n 90s on their 2nd exam.

Dr. Singhal may have been hard before according to friends of mine but this semester after i took him and after some students complained about hearing bad ruomours, he became a lot fairer in the types of exams he gives out. So i give him a thumbs up for actually listening to students and changing!!!

I took this class 2 yrs ago and I can still recall the pain of taking his class. CANT TEACH RIGHT. HARD ASS PROBLEMS, EXTREMELY HARD TESTS. Materials he covered and examples he gave during leacture is no where near to the ones on Tests. Not recommended.
