I was SUPER excited about this class and was NOTHING but disappointed. It might have been better not online but this was horrendous. The groups were awful, nobody replied, and night before it was due, suddenly everyone cared. He wouldn't respond, the TA wouldn't respond, and if he did respond, he said he'd email the TA aaand back to square one. NO.

Online course. I did not enjoy having groups for an online class. It was difficult to coordinate our "group papers." TA is in charge of the grading and grades very hard. Even if I sent in a draft ahead of time and she said it was good, I would still end up with a low B on the assignment. Not an easy course.

I took an online summer class with him and he was GREAT. Very flexible and understanding if you needed help or an extension. Very interested in his subject & gives great feedback. Wants you to do good in his class. Effort counts more than anything. Very recommended!!

A++ Class & Teacher. Uses 2 texts 0810844303 & 0143035150. I recommend you buy the books, they are a good read. You watch a handful of movies and write reviews on them. (La Haine, Comme un animant, Boyz n the Hood, 8 Mile, Wild Style) and some others. He gives standard written exams (midterm and final) not difficult if you study the study guides.

Take any class you can w/ him. Sometimes tough, but FAIR grader. Great French professor. This class is so much fun. He makes every attempt to make a joke and they are always funny... even when they aren't. Nice guy- he WILL convert you to become a French major if you express any interest in French, and he will help you out with anything you need.

Durand is a great professor, he is very enthusiastic about his class and extremely funny. He loves telling French jokes. He's a tough grader but he helps when you are stuck and explains things clearly in class. The quizzes are all take home .And the exams are both oral exams but he gives you the questions to prepare for them.

Good riddons to this professor and his impossible class. If you are not already fluent in French, do not take this class. Teacher expects too much and moves at a very fast pace. Hard grader. Oral and written exams. Very tough

I am so glad that I will never have to see this guy ever again. I can't imagine the amount of complaints he receives from students to the dean. Completely unfair and extremely difficult. You probably have a better shot of hitting the lottery than receiving an A in his class. Good luck

I dont know how anyone can possibly do good in this class. He treats Intro French like we are all trying to get PHD's in French. Tests are very hard. I would suggest trying to get a teacher that doesn't expect you to already know French and doesn't teach it like an advanced class
