Took his Pop Gen class. Alan is okay. Pro: He knows his stuff. Con: He doesn't teach it very clearly for students, who, being students, have not had nearly as much experience as him in the field. He made the class buy copies of the manuscript he's hoping to get published soon. Not cool.

Templeton is okay - The material is somewhat interesting, but his lectures fly above everyone's head in the room. If you've had Prob Stat, that will help. Otherwise, you wont have a clue what hes talking about half the time. He is a leader in the field but he can't bring it down to a 200 level bio class very well.

His lectures are cool, they can be dull, but usually aren't. His tests are surprisingly easy. He happens to be a genius at the stuff he's teaching, which really makes the class great.

Genetics Adonis! Can't spell "dying" to save his life! Promotes the burning of large tracts of forest (Smokey the Bear is evil)! Tells a lot of jokes in class. What a great guy!

Alan Templeton is a genius, as well as an excellent teacher. Of course he's going to talk about his research--it's groundbreaking, as he is one of the foremost biologists in his field. If you can't appreciate this then maybe you should take biology at a community college. Better yet, don't even both

A good professor - take him if you're interested in the field. And for the critic before this - he may be arrogant, but Templeton teaches his own research because he has invented and redefined much of the field. That's a good thing, not a bad thing, dummy. You go to Wash U to learn from experts.

Comment:
pass on temp. he goes way too fast and defines concepts with terms and symbols needing even more complex definitions. As for the previous post, it shouldnt be hocki ng that he originated a concept he taught us but rather expected, becuse this arrogant crackpot teaches his research as course material

I liked Templeton. The class was full of unique ideas that you wouldn't be taught anywhere else. It really redefined the way I thought about genetics. He was sooooo refreshing after that Duncan guy...

funny, edgy, and entrancing guy. His lectures were very detailed, used many different disciplines, and explained concepts well. One of the only good uses of Powerpoint I've seen. Definitely motivated me to do much better than expected.
