His lectures are boring but at least you have all the material posted online. You practically have to get perfect scores on the midterm and final to get an A. The curve is just so unfair. 89% is a C! I got 35/40 on midterm and 77/80 on the final, which is 94% and that was a B+, not A. So you can get screwed with the curve so high

Don't need to buy a textbook. His material is very useful. He usually reads his material. Tests are fairly easy, so everyone can get full credit for the test. if you miss one question, it's hard to get A. Despite your expensive tuition, if your goal is just to pass this course, take him.

I got almost every question correct on the final exam, but this professor failed me because he didn't think I showed enough work ON A MULTIPLE CHOICE EXAM

He just reads his lecture notes to the class, but his notes are pretty detailed. He lets you have a cheat sheet and use his notes for all exams. The exams were pretty easy and did include questions from the reading, so its a good idea to do the reading. His curve was pretty generous, but could potentially hurt you. For example, a c was 82%-60%.

Really doesn't care anymore, he literally reads off of his powerpoints during lecture. His tests are pretty tough and overall I don't recommend taking any of his classes if you actually want to learn something.

I liked him as a professor; he pretty much just goes over lecture notes but is very chill, relaxed, and appreciates questions. As far as the class and its material goes- it is, according to my judgment, quite left-leaning and biased. The free market is discredited with little evidence and it is essentially given that it is an illegitimate system.

Just like all of foster's other classes 2 exams, open notes. If you study all the material you will do fine. If you are planning to go into finance post graduation this is a good class to take so you can learn the jargon and some concepts.

professor foster is one of my favorite professors I have ever had at UCSD. he is extremely clear, and is always available and happy to help with any questions you have. do your practice exams and take good, organized notes and you will have no problems whatsoever

He just read lecture notes (posted online) in the most monotone voice in 8am lecture. Even worse he teaches something OBSOLETE and even wrong!!! If you are those students who work hard and earn a A, this class may screw you over because others just brought econ tutor notes to his OPEN-NOTE exams. There is no partial credit for multiple choice exams

Open notes on multiple choice tests. Everyone should do okay, right? Nope, make a small mistake, there goes 10%. Partial credit? Nah bro, -2 points for marking the wrong answer. Studied my ass off and I got screwed.

Foster wasn't a bad teacher, but I found his lectures to be incredibly boring. He basically just reads through his notes in class (which he posts online) and doesn't add anything else, so at 8AM it will put you right to sleep. However his tests are open note so if you are a good self studier you shouldn't have a problem doing well in this class.

One midterm, final, and 3 (easy) stata homeworks. Tests are open note so you don't need to go to class. He gives outlines of every chapter with examples. Midterm is harder than the final just because its shorter, so you have to know where to look in your notes. Easy advanced elective

This guy is awesome. Really funny, and really smart. I can't say I particularly like Econometrics, so I wasn't fully invested in the class, but the classes I went to were always really helpful and not boring to sit through. This guy is hilarious and makes a very dry subject palatable.

He changed his final last minute after he got hands on Econ tutor notes to make sure the notes did not help, but on the process of doing that he made the test harder for everyone making half of the class fail.

He is a good professor! The 120 series material is relatively dry and difficult, but with his notes (which he has for every topic) everything is manageable! Focus in class, do the problem sets, ask questions and you'll get an A.
