He was a decent prof, he was just a very hard grader and I found his tests super difficult. His slideshows were pretty organized, he just went through them a little too fast and they were hard to take notes off of.

Alec Habig is a decent professor. He rambles with a bunch of "blobs" and "thingys" which gets confusing. Most of the time, lecture notes aren't in the tests/quizzes, it's mostly from the textbook. Lecture was kind of boring, goes off-topic sometimes. Does Homework and Reading Quizzes through MasteringAstronomy.

85% of the class is exam based and not easy. Lectures are pointless but attendance is required (5% of grade). Read the textbook and do the practice quizzes and the exams won't be so bad. Not an easy A, you have to really put the effort in.

Habig is an incredibly passionate person, and the lectures were excellent. The tests were fair, but it is absolutely imperative that you read the book and understand the core concepts, or be prepared to do some hardcore spur of the moment problem solving. That being said, he is a very eccentric and helpful guy, and class is not boring with him.

Was a great professor because of his lecture style and the way he runs the class. I took him in the fall of 2013 and struggled with the class but just because of the class itself. He was very good at explaining what we needed to focus on. He taught very closely to the book and used online homework which came in handy when faced with exams.

Dr. Habig knows what he's talking about. He spends a good deal of time deriving equations, and the examples he gives are above and beyond the book and relevant to our experience. His tests are much harder than his practice exams, so don't rely on those. He's upfront that this is not a "remember the formula" class; it is a thinking class. Think.

His class is certainly not easy but he's a very clear, concise lecturer and a very fair professor in terms of grading. His tests are challenging but similar to the practice exams he posts online. A great professor to have for a difficult class like physics II!

He goes straight from the book... Literally didn't learn a thing from him other than he talks really fast and his way too smart for his own good. He's brilliant, but he expects you to be on the same level. Probably the most difficult class I have taken so far.

Habig is a brilliant guy. That being said he is a horrible teacher. He teaches you straight from the text book and doesn't explain anything so someone who is just being introduced to the material can understand. Textbook is definitely a must to have because I taught myself from it. Written homework & tests are made WAY too hard.

Comment:
Very hard and confusing professor. Tests are very advanced for the material learned. Lectures consisted of him spewing facts left and right while scribbling notes in unreadable handwriting. He used the online homework as his basis of teaching. Written homework was very challenging and too advanced. Otherwise he's a very smart, cool guy.

Habig was a decent teacher. His lectures are not super explanatory, and he does clicker questions so do attend. He's an absolutely brilliant guy and will include interesting/real world examples in his power points. He's really helpful in office hours and overall I great guy if you put the effort in. The class/tests are hard, but so is physics.

DO NOT take Alec Habig for Physics II. He has daily homework assignments, explains things using the definitions straight from the book, and his exams are overly complicated.

The lectures are nearly useless. Class consits of this is an equasion and a picture from the book. This is how we got their. If all i needed was the book i would't pay 35$/hr to have you read it to me. Also the work load is way more than what should be allowed for a 3 credit lecture. I had about 7-9 hrs per week of HW alone.

Probably the best professor I had at UMD. Extremely smart, and able to convey the material. Always will to help. Don't remember exact course number, so I left it.
