Very clear about instructions for assignments and for general expectations. Presents the material in a slow and methodical way such that it would be difficult to misunderstand it unless you missed the class.

Comment:
Descriptions of George as "arrogant" are misleading and ultimately irrelevant. I know of no other professor so welcoming of and attentive to interruptions in class. George knows his stuff backwards and forwards, genuinely cares about teaching, andassigns fewer pages of reading/writing than most professors while requiring much more actual thinking.

Comment:
He is an interesting lecturer, but the assignments are very frustrating. I felt like most arguments I made in papers were valid and logically consistent (I even had other philosophy professors tell me so), but since I did not agree with the professor, I almost consistently got Bs. Would not recommend if you care about expressing your own thoughts.

Gives excellent feedback on essays and is always open to discuss written work or ideas. Has a real passion for philosophy, especially the work of Ludwig Wittgenstein. Cares about engaging the critical ideas (i.e. doesn't assign busy-work or massive amounts of reading). Fantastic professor.

He's very clear and precise on this topic. Go and see him at office hours. Some questions on quizzes and exams can really take you by surprise. With logic, it seems that students are to some degree predisposed to understand the subject or to not. Thus, this couse could be extremely easy or extremely difficult.

In logic, weekly homework can only hurt your grade, so if you're a bad test-taker, you're screwed. Though he offers help frequently, he's smug and doesn't always offer the right kind of help (I figured something out for myself too late to save my grade).
