He expects a lot on the exams and seems more interested in improving our critical reading skills than teaching philosophy. Seems invested in student progress - will pair up students who do poorly on exams with students who do well. Found ways to relate the material to practical situations. A good guy.

He tests primarily on the book, but never discusses it in class. Some of the tests are over nearly 200 pages of text. No discussion goes on in the class. If you want to be bored to death in a philosophy class...which I never thought possible, than take his honors section.

I have the honors section; his lectures are very thought-provoking and interesting, but he doesn't really cover what's in the textbook and ends up on the tests, which wouldn't be bad if one reads the text well in advance, portions it out and asks any question that comes to mind - he will answer questions. Don't take at 8 AM though.

Ok, hes really intelligent and really likes philosophy- but I actually read the book in that class and it was still hard! And I like philosophy! I learned a lot though- hes a good teacher.

I almost fell asleep when he did his lectures...but he's entertaining when he comes up with story scenarios, and he's generally pretty likeable. Tests were tough, a lot of true/false questions on subjective topics.

He is a brilliant man- a little too intense for me at times. I found the exams in his Philosophy in Literature course to be very difficult.
