I had Nelson for 101 for my first quarter. Being a running start student I was nervous already but her attitude and her unwillingness to help like she says she does in the beginning of class was terrible. I had a friend that she refused to help in and out of class, I will never take one of her classes and will never recommend her to anyone!

For this I had to revise essays multiple times but instead of helping me and telling me how to revise them she just handed the essay back and said fix it. When I went into her office to get help from her she just told me I should know these skills by now and wasn't helpful to explain with how I should revise these essay.

She is great, and is very helpful. She answer any questions you have and explain anything. It's college english, so yes its more reading and writing, deal with it. It's not "hard" it's just sort of time consuming. Only stupid people would fail this class, i havent been to school in 10 years and this was my first college class ever and i passed.

Awesome! Love Alexis to pieces. TONS of work but if you want to expand your knowledge of english lit, there's no better combo than the Nelson/Versteeg learning community. I took every paper I wrote into their office and had them critique before grading and they were super stoked to see me every time. If you're willing to work, you'll get a 4.0.

She is an excellant instructor and is here to help you. While she doesn't take any crap, I especially loved her atitude as she is super funny. She was a real joy to be around and I felt comfortable around her and asking her for help. Take her if you want the very best and are looking to become a better writer! Alexis is a very nice and amusing teacher if you stay on her good side. I took a learning community which was English 101 and 112 combined, DEFINITELY a challenge and not an easy A at all. She expects a lot out of you but will help you along the way. Her ego is huge but if I had a PhD mine probably would be too.

The Road to Civilization LC that I took was one of the most amazing courses I've taken. She is a great and interesting teacher. Not an "easy A" by any stretch, but willing and able to exert her considerable energy to helping a struggling student pass if they only come half-way.
