I recommend taking this alongside Intro to Systems because you will find one hard and one easy and it's a good balance. I barely did any work outside of class because I did my homework during class. She is a very nice person, but I felt she was disorganized at points.

I love Dr. McRae! She is very helpful both during class and in office hours. I personally think she's hilarious. Her outbursts of enthusiasm in class gets me every time lol. Very smart. Cares a TON about her students. I'm taking her again next semester for theory.

Dr. McRae is one of the better professors in the CS department by far. Grading criteria was shifted in your favor and very clearly stated. The online quizzes and homework are challenging, but definitely do-able. Coding assignments were a breeze. Much better professor for 2490 than 2440.

Alice McRae early on said that she was a scatterbrain, that is true for the entirety of this class. Shes super sweet and her class is pretty easy. It's the labs that will kill you in this class. They are 30% of the class grade and you are forced to do them over the weekend, well at least in my situation. Love Dr. McRae though!

Dr. McRae is a sweet lady who cares about students. She's not the best teacher though. Highly disorganized. Fell behind of the lab schedule and online quiz material, leading to frustration. Lecture is boring. Lots of things skipped over. Gives away tons of free grades. You'll get a good grade(if you can pass the lab) but don't expect to learn much.

McRae I would describe as quirky. In class is very easy going, and if you understand the material all you'll ever need is the lectures. She's available all the time outside the class to help you with lab or a concept, and really enjoys doing so. She is incredibly smart, but incredibly forgetful, and it kinda makes for some scattered sentences here or there, so don't be afraid to ask a question in class or to help her remember things xD

Incredibly helpful and knows how to teach. If you pay attention, you'll never struggle in her classes. I'd suggest sitting up front due to her hasty handwriting. She is the type of professor that we need for other CS classes at ASU... Looking at you, 2450 and 3667!

Although Dr. McRae can be a bit scatter-brained, she is the one who started my computer science career as a successful one. She will never give up on a student who's trying, and does a great job of finding alternative ways of explaining concepts if you don't understand it initially. I have a lot to thank Dr. McRae. Take her if you care about CS.

This is an amazing teacher. She is very excited about the material and legitimately wants to see everyone in her class succeed. At the beginning of class she asks how everyone best learns, and alters her teaching-style to be able to teach how you best learn. I recommend her as a teacher over every other person in this college.
