Professor gavrin explains everything clearly. He is a really good teacher for the first physics class. Be aware of tests, you need to work harder than u do in your other classes. There is extra 50 points that you could earn in this class.

Dr. Gavrin is one of the most caring, helpful professors I have ever had. He makes even the most complicated topics very simple in lectures. He is a fun guy and does a lot of demonstrations to help you understand the material and shows you where the topics exist in real life. Gives practice tests, and tests were pretty similar and straightforward

Take this guy!! You would think in such a large class (150 students) that he wouldn't be able to give you individual attention... BUT HE DOES! He is involved in recitation, encourages students to discuss the ideas at every opportunity, and is seriously on the ball with grades. Asses your understanding, and provides great correction.

Just enrolled with the Professor for 15200, seems great so far! Lectures are great and covers material well. Has a great online presence, and offers help quickly to students taking physics for the first time. Will update when the semester ends...

Prof. Gavrin is possibly the best instructor I've ever had. He would post online a list of everything that we were supposed to do each week, he understood our perspective when we were confused on a concept, and his lectures were clear and engaging. The entire class actually applauded him on the last day of the semester.

Homework assignments twice a week, warm-up assignments twice a week, but you can work ahead if you want. I almost never opened the book for assignments, because it didn't help. Khan Academy and the tutoring center was my biggest help. Tests are based on homework and sometimes recitation problems. He's a tough grader. 5% extra credit available!!!

The tests were hard, but it was not difficult to get the required 50% average to pass the class. I found Gavrin's lectures to be unhelpful; I taught myself a lot of the material. I would also recommend finding another textbook to use for Warmups as the one provided is terrible. I used University Physics, which was a much better resource.

Dr. Gavrin is a fantastic professor. He explains concepts very clearly and his use of clickers throughout his lectures gives you immediate applications. He always stays after class to answer questions students have and responds quickly to emails. He's incredibly nice, and really cares about his students. I would recommend him to anyone.

Wonderful professor. Gavrin is extremely approachable and good at explaining difficult topics. He also has a knack for making both physics and the problem solving process seem inspiring/wonderful, which definitely helps in making you want to succeed. He can be a bit elusive in his office because of how busy he is, but I still highly recommend him.

Good at explaining things and likes to stimulate thinking but I think that he assigns too much busywork and there isn't a good course focus on helping students REALLY understand the physics. No textbook, all online. I would have preferred a real, thorough textbook.

I'll put it this way. If you are going to do well in 251, it will be with Dr Gavrin. This is a tough class, so if you put in the effort, your best chances are with Gavrin. He is very nice and helpful, especially in office hours. he wants you to do well.
