Comment:
Lectures are boring but his slides are very detailed and provide everything you need to get an A. As far as Rinzler goes, id say you only need to go to class if you need the EC clicker points. Regular physics class, learn the material and youll get an A, spend 4 nights a week at midtown and youll probably struggle.

His lectures are pretty boring, but he was a pretty nice guy. He cared about how the students felt and was willing to work with us with the online homework system that often malfunctioned. Not bad! The effort you put in is what you'll get in this class.

Rinzler is a very boring and dry lecturer. He is monotone and seems even unenthusiastic at times. When i went to his office to ask about a problem from the HW his exact words were "Here is the formula you use, im not going to show you the problem because there is too much algebra and i dont want to do it right now".

Comment:
DO NOT TAKE. Lecture is basically him reading off his power points slide extremely quickly. Uncharismatic and quite honestly the most boring lecturer at UF. The problems that show up on his power points are nothing like the exam problems. Again, do not take.

Where do I begin? Boring lecturer. He seems to have less interest in physics than you do when lecturing. Tests are insanely hard.

He is a nice guy but isn't great at relaying the information. He only uses PowerPoint slides and doesn't do any problems on the board. His tests tend to have a higher average than the other professors though.

Dr. Rinzler sounds uninterested when he teaches, making his lectures (already full of powerpoint slides) less involving. But he will still help you with any of your problems until you understand them.

Much harder than PHY2048. The class is difficult and boring. I couldn't stand the powerpoints, so I just attend TutoringZone before an exam.

So many of my classes have made me lose hope in my education here at UF. Physics should NOT be taught by profs reading off long-winded powerpoints. Very scarce writing on the board. We were never taught how to solve new problems. Do the hw yourself; it's the only way you'll learn. At least I was in the 15% that got A's, but I didn't learn much.

Ridiculous grading...comes up with strange ways to grade things (eg. HWgrade*QuizGrade = 25% of overall grade)...which end up really hurting the student that does not COMPLETELY understand the subject at hand. He makes class too complicated.

Terrible teacher, an overall nice guy, but horrific teacher. He reads off of his longwinded powerpoints, interjects facts you never need to know, speaks in a monotonous voice, uses high level language and conventions to explain simple phenomena and kills any desire to learn the material.

HITT is the only reason to go to class. lectures are confusing and extremely monotone , everyone just sleeps or talks. one of the worst teachers ive had. paid 200 bucks for a tutor to get a C+ (missed B by 0.1 points - no lie). so dont expect any rounding up, no matter how close u get.

Not particularly interesting lectures, but they get the job done. He is clear, but lectures can drag. They're not boring, but he is very methodical. Think monotone. It could be a lot worse

If you get one of his sections, seriously consider transferring. He means well and tries to give you extra material, but he comes off as extremely unclear and awkward. Every section he has taught, I had to learn on my own.

Not the most exciting lecturer, but knows circuits very well. Willing to help, and will make you learn what you need to about circuits.

I had him during Spring of 2004. The tests were simple but as freshman, I didn't work all that hard either. Class average was a low B+!!!
