I think how you feel about Zimbalist differs drastically depending on your way of learning. He never does high school type of teaching (concepts + examples). So if you prefer clear concepts and examples toward tests, you better not choose his course. If you are OK with reading the book, doing some online exercises and going to office hour, :)

The lectures were super important to the class. Professor Zimbalist may seem intimidating, but he's really not scary. To master this class, you really just need to speak up every time something confuses you. No matter how stupid you feel, someone else probably has the same question. 3 tests and weekly online problem sets determine the final grade.

Such an great class. I did not think I would be that interested in econ, but after taking Professor Zimbalists class, I am considering it as a major! He is the top of his field, and truly is a master of his craft. He his really helpful and explains difficult concepts easily. In addition he has a slightly odd, but great sense of humor.

Really interesting class. He doesn't like suckups, but if you are interested and work hard you're fine. He is THE expert in his field, and because of that you have great guest lecturers and go on really cool trips. He goes over everything in class and is clear about his expectations. I would HIGHLY recommend sports econ

Zimbalist is an arrogant ****. His lessons are boring and every exam up to the final is a piece of cake, then he makes the 40% final impossible. Had an A going into the final, ended up with a B-. Would NEVER recommend.

Zimbalist is probably the worst teacher i've ever had. I'm a gov major and thought taking econ would be helpful with my major, i had perfect grades in all other classes, this man made my gpa drop SEVERELY bc of the grade i ended up getting in his class even though i thought i was doing very well.

I am an economics major, I love economics, and he made me hate coming to class. Don't take this class if you are good at math or economics because he dumbs everything down to the point of making it more complicated than it needs to be. Worst class of my life.
