Professory Colomy has been the best professor I've had at DU. He cares about his students, is always open to help during office hours, and makes the information as relatable as possible. His class can get boring during the lectures, but he tries his best to keep energy up during the class. Many movies references! Hardest class taken but worth it!

Professor Colomy is brilliant and definitely one of my favorite professors I've ever had. The course isn't easy and you will have a lot of reading of some dense material, but he structures his notes and reading assignments so you learn the most pertinent parts of the material. You'll learn a lot in his class and he always makes the lectures fun.

Crystal clear expectations and study guides. Offers a total of 10% of extra credit. Go to office hours and the study sessions as they are helpful and he takes them into consideration when assigning your final grade

Colomy is tight. He has handouts almost every class and tells you what to pay attention to for tests. The tests are a bit tough as you have to match the concept to the question for short answers, but as long as you talk w/ your TA, you can do very well. This is a great class to take.

He was my favorite professor last quarter. He is so enthusiastic and made my 8am class easy to survive. He's really interesting and some of his lectures literally had me laughing out loud. He is a really great guy, interesting, and his class was SO FUN! He only had 3 exams so studying was a must, but it was interesting material so no big deal.

Go to the office hours and study guide sessions before the tests - he practically gives away what the essay questions will be. Wants you to succeed, offers two extra credit papers. It is extremely clear what knowledge you are responsible for on the three tests that compile your entire grade. Would take again.

One of the best lecturers on campus, and most probably the funniest. If you take a class with Colomy, make sure to do the extra readings assigned because you'll have to know them for the essay questions on the tests.

Not the easiest teacher ever, but not the hardest either. I didn't read a single word of the textbook, but studied my lecture notes intensively before the first midterm and got a high B on it. Study sessions are a MUST! Follow the study guides closely and know the stuff on them and you will be fine for the tests. He gives out 2 EC papers too!

Colomy is the best! He is pretty hilarious most of the time and while his classes are very challenging but he is one of the most helpful teachers I have ever had. He genuinely cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Highly recommend if you're at all interested in sociology. You will come out of the class having learned a lot.

For the intro class to sociology Colomy was very helpful. I did really bad on my first exam and he curved the exams so that the students could be better. However, the lecture isn't too exciting. Also has extra credit!

Colomy is the best sociology professor at DU, possibly the best professor generally. He knows what he is talking about and seems to genuinely enjoy teaching. He is also willing to help with anything.

His personality and lectures take A LOT of getting used to. If you are a visual or kinesthetic learner it is difficult to learn much from his lectures as it's impossible to take notes on the hand outs he gives you. He has a genuine interest and cares a lot for his students and is extremely helpful. The tests are so hard and there is a ton ofreading

His personality takes some getting used to, but if you want to learn sociology, by god, Colomy will teach you sociology. About twice as much (often difficult) reading for this class as the other classes I was taking at the time combined--but it's interesting and worthwhile. He gives extensive outlines for every lecture. Go to the review sessions.
