OMG! I loved his Geology 100 class! His jokes and puns are fantastic and he makes his lectures applicable to the PNW. His online lectures are entertaining with plenty of visual aids. This was a great filler class for my schedule.

Comment:

Professor Buddington was simply phenomenal. He covers a lot of ground (pun intended haha), but his lectures are incredibly detailed and informative. He has clearly defined and realistic expectations. Very accessible and knowledgeable. Hands down, the best college professor I've had so far. Listen to the lectures, take notes, ... profit!

Comment:

Put in the time and reap the rewards. This teacher gives ample extra credit, amazing feedback and so many chances to make up for missed marks. I had never taken a science class and found this class to be difficult but Andy's lectures are what made my 4.0 in this class possible. If you slack, you'll fail.

I really enjoyed this online class. I appreciate the well put together power point lectures. You definitely have to study to pass the exams. However, some notes are allowed and he gave multiple opportunities for extra credit. I thought the instructor was on par for a level 100 college course. He was also responsive to my emails.

Science classes are harder, in general, however, this class was difficult. Lots of reading and this was the first class I've had where I was tested on 4+ chapters. Very lecture heavy. If you don't do the lectures, you won't pass. He also occasionally had an assignment or quiz that had material we hadn't studied. He is nice, funny, and fairly clear

Andy is an awesome professor who loves the subject matter he teaches. That being said, you need to participate in class discussions to be on his good side. This will not effect your grade but it may effect his willingness to help you out. His tests are based on his lectures so take good notes. The book required for this class is basically useless.

Andy is a good teacher. He will respond to students and clarify any misconceptions. He has about 3 lectures a week that are an hour long each, I recommend grabbing a notebook and taking notes! These lectures are essential to passing his class! To pass his tests, you must fit all your notes on the one paper cheat sheet that he allows.

Always available if you go to him for help, but you have to go to him and ask! Super knowledgeable and he loves Geology so much he will make you love it too! Field trips galore, all our labs were field trips, and extra credit for weekend field trips. I was never bored and I learned SO much!

Awesome professor!He's super helpful, funny,generous,and he's just too awesome! His tests are strictly off his powerpoints. The book is only helpful for charts and pictures. He gives in-class worksheets based on the powerpoint notes for the day, so attendance is mandetory. Andy is one of my favorite professors and a great one at SCC!

Just signed up for my 3rd straight quarter with this professor. He is very knowledgeable and answers any questions I have. He expects you to understand the concepts presented for his tests, which makes sense of course. If you don't study your grade will show it. Attendance is not mandatory but if you don't show up you miss too much info.

Great teacher! He has a quirky sense of humor and he makes class fun and interesting. His enthusiasm made me look forward to class and pay attention. But don't kid yourself, you have to commit to studying and go to the lab study hours. If you don't study in the lab outside of class, you will have a very hard time on the lab tests

Andy is the best. He is super passionate about his feild of work, and he wants his students to care. He is very helpful, and his class nearly made me rethink my career chioce. I am suprised by how much I learned. If I could give you any advice it would be to do the extra credit, it really helps! Take this class if you need a Lab at SCC.

Buddington is a a great teacher he is very passionate about geology and will get even the most not interested person into learning about it. His tests were the hardest i have ever taken but if you study WELL you will do well. He also offers extra credit which is helpful. I highly recommend takinjg his class he is the best teacher at scc.

Best teacher I have had at SCC. Extremely helpful and easy to understand. Does his best to keep you interested. Must do the work in order to pass, but that is easy to do. I have had multiple classes with him recommend him for all of them. MAGMA!

He is so easy to listen to (and look at!) one of the best classes I've taken by far, if not the best. You will learn sooo much and his charisma and passion for geology will get you excited too! Love love love it. It really isn't even that hard, just study! He is great!

The tests are brutal and the homework load seems like a lot, however i really learned lot from this class and am gald I took it

Recommend Geology 101 first, but not required.Know the terminology, Andy gets going, and you don't want to get lost. Field trips rock!! He puts a lot into this. But it does take work, can't skate through this one. Take good notes!!! Don't miss class!! You earn your grade for sure. If you like rocks and learning about field work, great class!!
