She is AMAZING. Take her class and take the time to get to know her --it will be more than worth it! She is young enough to be relatable but old enough for it not to be weird that you're learning from her. One of the best professors of my college career. Very passionate and well informed. Sincerely cares about students learning. Treat with respect!

Women's Hist. w/ Firkus was great. She's sweet and I loved her organization. Her lectures kept me engaged, & her tests are great because you can prepare for them ahead of time as she gives you the prompts prior. Our class made a quilt for Cottey! Reading 'Other Powers' was HELL, but I got through it. Generally, she's an easy grader.

Hard! Her tests are a ****! I took governemnt and learned nothing pertaining to gov. I learned more in my 9th grade civics class and also found it disturbing that one of her assignments was the same one I had in 8th grade history.

Dr. Firkus tries hard to keep her opinions to herself and give openminded discussions. It helps to study and know what she will discuss so you can participate, if you don't you just kinda sit in space wondering what everyone's talking about.

She's very political but tries to show only her feminism during class. You can pass the course with a B or C without getting the book, but she does have reading quizes. Tests questions are pulled from lecture and quizes both, and you do have to write for her now and then and "volunteer" for two political activities. Otherwise she's rather easy. :)
