Wendell Holbrook is an alright professor. His class involves a lot of readings. It consists of 4 books that have to be purchased. In his class you mostly watch films but they can be very boring. He grades harshly on his papers.

Prof. Holbrook is an amazing professor. I had him for African American race relations and it was a very interesting class. There is one midterm with an essay, a 12-15 pg research paper on a topic of your choice and a final with an essay. Oh yeah, he also offers extra credit!

Holbrook is a very knowledgeable. Follow the syllabus! Make sure to READ the books he assigns because catching up at the last minute is hopeless. He gives 15-20 page paper in all of his classes so meet with him during his office hours and start your research for your assigned topic early. He wants his students to pass so he will give quizzes too.

Holbrook is a very educated man. He has an enormous amount of insight on the African american community and history. You need to buy 3-4 books, all of them PRICEY. The 15 page research paper at the end is worth the majority of your grade. Focus on that, show up and you will make a decent grade,

Holbrook is one of the most knowledgeable Prof's on Rutgers Newark campus in regard to the history of the race culture in America. His lectures are very interesting and rewarding, you will learn a lot in this class. You have 2 exams and a paper to write. He gives a very generous grade and is willing to help you to reach for an A. Highly recommended

I had ZERO interest in this subject, but Holbrook is a very smart, interesting, and funny guy. 15pg paper was a little rough, but he is a very fair grader. Has students he knows better than others, but grades according to merit. Open discussions and his objective views always made class fun, he is overall an outstanding professor.

Plays favorites big time!!. Has 4 books u need to buy, all tough and $$$ books, not to mention a research assignment w/ added independent reading. Forgets that not everyone in the course knows all there is to know about African American culture and are trying to learn. Can be pompous at times, and seems to be making time until retirement

After reading another comment here, I decided to leave my thoughts. True, Prof Holbrook has (modest) liberal views, but conservatives (like me) can learn a great deal from him. He is, in my opinion, the most intelligent--and intellectually honest--professor on campus.

There is a lot of reading and a 15-20 page paper. Tests could be challenging but not if you read and pay attention. I got an A. He's definitely worth having. There is a lot of class discussion and he grades very fairly.

The man is well informed on his topics, unfortunately he is also extremely biased towards the liberal viewpoint. He will leave out information that would balance the thoughts of his students. Only strong-minded republicans should risk taking him...
