All you need to do for this class is the readings to do well on the tests, and while some chapters are longer than others it's not ridiculously overwhelming. And study guides are provided for each test and they are very accurate, fill that out and you're guaranteed a A/B on the test. Only 3 major papers for the course and they were minimum of 2 pgs

Professor Stein was awesome! At first the assigned reading from outside sources (not the textbook) and the mandatory attendance of a lecture event around CofC seemed like I was wasting my time, but I actually grew to really appreciate them! The readings, the presentations by students, and the essay topics gave me much more out of the class

Love the class, love learning about sociology and all the readings are good. However there are lots of readings, I personally had a hard time with the tests where is scored c's and c+'s, she gives a study guide, but I had difficulty with some of the wording. The classes are a lot of lecture, but its all very interesting. Just read and you'll be ok

Lots of reading. Tests are a bit tough, but not terribly hard. She provides a good study guide, which gives a good idea of what to expect. Note taking encouraged. Some outside work, but nothing too demanding. She's reasonable to work with, and very nice. You'll earn the "A."

It's not impossible to earn an A, most people are lazy just don't put in the work. Do the homework, do the study guides, you'll do well. Just a lot of reading, but simple concepts and most stuff is just common sense. People really need to stop being so lazy and blaming the professor when they're the ones skipping class and not doing the readings.

A lot of info on test study guides is not in book, so you must attend every class and take notes as she lectures, or you will have a really hard time. Very boring lecturer.

I took this class because I needed the credit and was somewhat interested in the INTRO course. This course was way harder than it needed to be and there are multiple short answer exams with essay questions, 2 papers, and five different reading responses. I failed every test and she grades way too harshly!

Stein is a nice person, but not the best professor. Tests are pretty difficult, but if you do the readings (which are a lot) and pay attention in class you will do fine, just make sure you are not just memorizing the material, but also know how to apply it. Gives a lot of extra work to boost your grade if tests are bad.

Prof. Stein is a no-nonsense kind of woman. She's brilliant, and a sassy lil thing! You MUST do all the readings. Use the study guides she gives for the tests. Be prepared to speak up in class; it definitely gives you favor in her eyes. You will get back what you put in for this class. If you put in the time, you will do well. It's not an easy A.

Stein is a good professor and really cares about the subjects she teaches. The only thing is her test. They're pretty difficult since there's about twenty questions that are fill in the blank from any of the readings or info from the group presentations. Do well on her other projects and little papers and you'll be fine.

She was my internship professor so she didn't actually teach me, but she oversaw my internship. You have weekly responses and journals, but as long as you make them detailed and follow directions, you'll do fine. Very nice woman!

If you do the work, you'll do well. She assigns a lot of reading but goes over a lot of it in class, I'd recommend to read at least 50% of what she assigns. Her directions for papers and open-ended test questions are extremely straight forward. Her teaching style is very direct but she's helpful if you ask questions and wants you to do well.

Professor Stein is a great professor. She just expects you to do the readings and other assignments, before each class. Readings are very important. She also gives a lot of assignments, so your grade isn't based on a couple test and a final. Oh, and THE FINAL IS NOT CUMULATIVE! So, she's pretty much a saint.

Prof. Stein was okay. She pretty much justs talks the whole class period; her slides are vague and so you really have to listen to her. And she talks fast so hard to keep up sometimes. Tests are pretty tough, some stuff she didn't touch on. READ THE ARTICLES ON OAKS. She asks specific ?s on those. I've had worse professors, but I've also had better

Loved Professor Stein. She really cares about her students and if you want help, she is more than willing to give it to you. Her lectures can be boring at times but the material is extremely interesting. She doesn't take attendance but you HAVE to read the assigned reading to pass.

Stein's sociology class wasn't too hard. I ended up finishing with a 'B' average. Teaches straight from her powerpointslides. Gives helpful study guides preparing you for her tests. Probably wouldn't take her again as the class was a bit dry.. but she is a nice lady willing to help.

One of the best teachers I have ever had. She genuinely cares about you especially if you show interest. Talk to her about class & let her know that you enjoy it. It's a really interesting class. You will have to read and DO THE STUDY GUIDES! They are so helpful! She even emailed other soci profs for me to ask them about further classes-awesome!

She's so-so. Some days she would be nice, others she would be mean. Her lectures are boring, she kind of makes the subject boring in that way. Her tests are somewhat related to the material we go over in class.

she teaches solely through listening, her slides aren't helpful, and her tests are extremely irrelevant to what she teaches, she is also extremely rude to her students and her feedback on assignments are rude and unhelpful.
