This woman is unhappy and bitter. Unfortunately she cannot leave these feelings out of the classroom. Real downer of a class.

She's very funny! We had 4 discussion papers out of 7 weeks, 10p term paper, final and midterm. Readings are dull, but her explanations are fun and interesting. Doesn't go on about politics like Bernbeck. I'm not even into prehistory and she made me interested. A+++ would take again!

Really difficult class, but very interesting and informative if you keep on top of things. She's a tough grader, but if you show up and do the work, you'll do okay. Her style is a bit dry and probably not for everyone, but I've really enjoyed the class.

ridiculous amounts of work for just a beginning 300 level class. she demands way too much, treats it like a 500 level class. so much work to do every week. you have a midterm, papers weekly, a 10 page research paper, and a rediculous 10 page final! i would recomend to NOT take this class unless you enjoy doing crazy amounts of in depth work.

Easily one of the most demading classes of my college career. Reading up to 200+ pages and writing a paper a week, which being that i have 3 other 300+ level corses to deal with as well,is a bit much.there is too much information to adiquately process. She is helful if you ask, but she is definately a tough grader.

Ann Stahl is an excellent professor who is approachable, friendly, and will sometimes kick your butt with her grading. Do ALL her readings... she knows when you have not. BUT, more importantly, this professor is on seriously on top of things, not only in archaeology, but also history, philosophy, and the politics of scinence.

Class can be boring but if you are an Anthro major it really helps to know the history. It has helped me alot in other courses as well. Stahl can be dry yes, but it's the subject. She is extremely approachable and nice.

She cares about the class and cares about the students. I quesiton the correctness of her methods though. She constantly referred to Asia as "the Orient". Seems like such a Eurocentric word has no place in a place of higher learning. I spoke with her about it and she said it was a valid point, but continued to use the term.

WOW she is like some's really repressed mother on menopause & bitter about it. Case study's require linking unrelated data in rather unscholarly ways. Lectures are just that, even in small classes, kinda missing the social skills needed to be a prof. avoid her.

She obviously knows what she's talking about and her lectures are well put together. However, she's not very approachable because she can be really moody; if sh'es in a good mood, she'll help you. Otherwise, run away. She turns papers back quickly, but comments aren't always very helpful.
