I took ART H 257 with Dr. Whitelaw and she made Canadian Art History truly enjoyable. Exam questions should not be a surprise if you have been attending class and taking good notes, she is a fair marker and her lectures are very informative. Snobby? No, I don't think she is at all.

as far as art h prof's go, she is the best i've listened to. perhaps can come off as "snobby," but all art historians have a bit of that attitude. very interesting, tried to keep things lively, brought in humour. had some problems with technology, but otherwise great lectures.

Very snobby, hard to approach and communicate with. Group project is not effective class work. She even says herself that the final group project is so that she doesn't have to mark exams and take away from her break. Midterm exam wasn't too difficult

Totally disagree with the other comments, disliked this prof A LOT. Can only get one opinion as there was no text. Wasn't helpful AT ALL during one-on-one time. Her biases show through huge and she expects a lot of description on essays/exams (ie: fluff) Take this class with someone else if you can.

Very witty (love the comments about the 'phallic' nature of Harris's paintings), very stylish (both in terms of dress and verbal presentation), and very knowledgeable (her lectures are so information-packed, I wish I had a tape recorder). In short, an outstanding Prof. Makes the content interesting.

Very cool prof. Doesn't look like the average art history prof. she's very passionate about her material, and makes you proud of the subject (in this case Canadian Art in the 20th C.) Attend her classes, and take good notes...she doesn't drill you on them, but she expects you to know your stuff
