Professor Gu's lectures are of minimal value, but attendance is mandatory. You will need to read EVERYTHING in the textbook, and even then, his tests intentionally try to trip you up. He is obviously brilliant, but he is a dreadful teacher.

You must read all chapters (in their entirety) and do all assigned homework to do well on the exams. You should learn about 20% of all material in lectures. He takes attendance though, so go to class but realize you won't get much out of it.

Worst teacher I have ever had at Geneseo. Does not teach anything and they expects you to know everything for the test. The only way to possibly pass the class is to get a hold of the test before hand. DO NOT TAKE WITH HIM.

Gu may be my least favorite professor at Geneseo. I was excited to take another finance class, but this one was nearly impossible with him. Some of his stories were funny, but that didn't make up for his lack of clarity and helpfulness. Students would ask questions in class and he wouldn't understand them. It confused everyone in the class.

If i had a choice I wouldn't have taken Gu. I know that he is really smart and he's pretty funny but he just isn't good at teaching. If you want a good grade you either need to get a hold of the tests or teach yourself everything.

One of my favorite professors. A riot in class and will do a headstand in front of the class if you ask him to. Projects are long but easy A's. Tests are hard. Be sure to PARTICIPATE and pay attention in class and your grade will be fine.

i have him as an advisor - he absolutely sucks hardcore at that. i've gone to him 3 times about 3 separate issues.. he never once helped me. his answers were always "i dont have that access" or "i dont know if this is possible.. but just try." and it WAS his fault, because i got perfectly clear answers from another professor i turned to.

Dr. Gu is the man. His course is straightforward, the tests are cake, and the hw isnt bad at all. To top it all off he's hilarious and his accent is definitely entertaining. Really nice guy too.
