Comment:

Great professor and really personable. He is pretty sarcastic and enjoys lecturing. He does not require attendance "you're an adult, show or don't show, I don't care" but he does have weekly quizzes that impact your grade. Half of the quizzes are on readings so it helps to at least skim. One of my favorite political science professors.

Dr. Nownes must have become a tougher grader since all the other comments, because I would not consider him easy. There are weekly quizzes that don't seem very hard, but he is pretty specific in the answers he is looking for. He is super accessible for office hours and will work with you on your grades. Honestly, he wants you to make a good grade.

Dr. Nownes knows his stuff. Super easy grader all you have to do is put a few brain cells in and follow directions for the assignments. Interact with him in class and he will love you. Really an excellent scholar and professor. Definitely recommend taking him if you can.

Great teacher! I took this course online over the summer and Mr. Nownes made sure he sent us detailed emails every week with information we would need for our final test. I hate political science but I really enjoyed this class!

Easiest class I've ever taken! Dr. Nownes is hilarious and all his lectures are extremely entertaining as well as informative. I personally hate Political Science but he made it interesting. I took this class over summer so it was fairly quick paced. We had 4 very easy quizzes, 1 group project, 3 papers and an easy final. Nearly impossible to fail.

WORST TEACHER EVER. Nothing on his exams are what he goes over in class. I'm typically a good student, but unless you plan on devoting countless hours of reading the text for his exams I wouldn't take it. On the other hand you can plan on not coming to class at all, and just reading the text and you will pass.

This guy is great! Very laid back teaching style and he constantly has you laughing. Attendance isn't mandatory but I found myself looking forward to his lectures! Totally doable workload but some studying is required to get a high B or A.

Dr. Nownes is probably the funniest and most entertaining professor I've had. He does not require students to attend class and makes it very clear he doesn't care whether you show up or not. However, there are weekly quizzes in the review section and everything on the quizzes come from his lectures. His tests are all multiple choice and easy.

Nownes is a funny guy, so he makes lectures interesting. However, a lot of test and quiz questions are not covered in detail during lectures so you DEFINITELY need to read and study the book to get an A. Overall, he's a good professor. I would recommend him.

For those of you required to take the class, and not interested in pols i don't advise Dr. Nownes. yes he is a funny and nice guy, but sometime his quizzes don't go along with what is discussed in class. Lecture, study guides, and notes barely ever go along with what on the tests. you must attend class, read, & take good notes to do well

I never knew that I could laugh so much in a political science class! Dr.Nownes is a great teacher who really knows what he is teaching and easily makes his students enjoy learning. He prepared us well for his tests and the final. I will definitely miss this class!

An easy A for anyone remotely interested in politics. Tests are easy, as are his quizzes. Lecture is optional: although going makes it easy to know what to read (and what not to read). If you're easily offended, watch out! He has a very dry and often dark sense of humor: UT is in the south and he has joked about racism etc. Funny guy! I enjoyed it.

Best Professor, if you have a requirement that Political Science fits, take this class, you will work a bit, but the class is funny. If coming to class was completely optional I would still come.
