Overall a good teacher. He really is an expert in his field and tries to explain outside of his concentration to the best of his ability. He is very lecture heavy, though, and uses personal anecdotes to the point of being difficult to remain focused in his class. If lectures don't bother you, definitely take him. He's a pretty funny guy.

The final grade is 50% midterm and 50% final, with an optional 8pg paper for 20% (cutting the tests to 40%). So if you're better at writing than test-taking, do the paper. The tests are scaled, though, and as long as you study, you'll do okay. It's all multiple choice, so it's not hard at all. Rambling, kind of nonsensical lectures.

This proffesor knows his stuff but cannot teach. Class consists of him rambling about stuff that have nothing to do with the course. Class is very boring, he does nothing to engage the students, he mocked his colleagues for involving students in class discussions because he does not care about what the students thinks. Do not take his class!!

Prof Gould is a nice guy- but if you are not good at taking tests DO NOT TAKE! The only grades for this class are a midterm, a final, and an optional 8 paged research paper. The materials on his tests are not from the books or lectures and even though he scales its very easy to not get a good grade on the tests.

Professor Gould gives out a midterm and a final (50% each). Or you can do an optional paper, topic of your choice as long as it relates, which is 20% and makes the tests 40% each. Absolutely need to read the book for the tests!!! You won't pass without info from the book. Lectures are boring but he's funny and very helpful if you need it.

He is a really nice guy, but his lectures are long and he rambles on a lot. You are given 2 tests a midterm and a final and an optional paper. Both tests are curved so as long as you read the book and study, you will do fine. You would have to try to fail. Would take again

PROF IS NICE BUT RAMBLES THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE CLASS. DOES NOT USE THE BOOK AT ALL SO GET THE CHEAPEST VERSION. I BARELY ATTENDED CLASS BUT MANAGED TO GOOD A GOOD GRADE. GIVES MIDTERM AND FINAL. YOU HAVE A CHOICE TO DO A RESEARCH PAPER. HE IS ALL OVER THE PLACE WITH HIS LECTURES VERY CONFUSING. WOULD NOT TAKE ANOTHER COURSE WITH HIM.

Professor Gould is the man! He's hilarious and very nice to students. I have taken him for three courses, his lectures are long but every thing else is good. He only gives 2 tests the whole semester but make sure you read because most of the questions come from the book not the lectures.

A good teacher who keeps you entertained despite some of the material being dry. He's clearly in love with what he does and wants to share his enthusiasm.

Prof. Gould is a lovely lovely man. He is smart and charming with a wicked sense of humor. The class itself was organized with clear objectives. I passed with an A simply by reading the assigned chapters, taking notes off the review at the back of each chapter and showing up to lecture. Can't be any easier than that. Gould rocks!

He is really nice, but his class is soo boring which makes it hard to pay attention. Grade is based off of a midterm and final (which are hard, but he scales), with an optional research paper. Definitely pass in the outlines for the tests.

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! Not only does he not teach the material whatsoever but he then expects you to know everything covered in the textbooks for the only two tests that count as all your grade! If he's making you read this in his class right now.. get out while you can!!

Although professor Gould is a nice guy he's just not a professor thats going to help you or make you the least bit interested in sociology. He talks about the same things over and over and extremely boring and unclear. Basically, if you enjoy cramming before a test and teaching yourself what you need to know for the TWO tests, this class if for you

I went to Ireland with him and he inspired me to become a Sociology major. He is brilliant and a wonderful guy. Clearly cares and his classes are just damn enjoyable. Seriously just show up, do the outlines, and care and you will do fine. But don't focus on that focus on his passion and ability to joke!

Professor Gould is AWESOME !! I had him for SOC 342, and SOC 343. Both classes are very interesting (lecture, no homework) He is extremeley interested in what he teaches, and knows his stuff ! He's more than willing to help you if you try. Also, he lets you do outlines of the text and he'll check off what will be on the exam.DO THE OUTLINES !
