I happily took 2 classes with S-A, he is by far one of my favorite professors. Do the daily homework, it really helps prepare you for the class and his random calls. Class material is current and not strictly boring textbook stuff. He is easy to talk to and understands that life happens.

I was worried going into this class because of the other reviews on here, but I have found that I am learning a lot even though he does tend to grade things point for point, not just for completion. He will randomly call on people, but I have been called on and not known the answer but don't feel like he makes fun of us for that. Hw assigned daily

Don't be fooled by his seeming calm demeanor, for beneath that oversized collared shirt and skinny jeans is a man notorious for cold-calling students. Forces his students to pay attention in class and learn the subject material. Very effective professor but will often troll students in class with funny questions. Overall he's not a bad guy!

A cruel man. Wants his students to fail. Expect verbal abuse during class. Teaches more like a prison guard than a college professor. Changed his last name from Flanagan to Saint Aubin in order to appear more authentically French -what a joke. Avoid him at all costs, and I seriously don't recommend taking French at Oxy. All profs are horrible.

I've taken 4 classes with Saint-Aubin now, and not because I liked him, but because he's the only professor that teaches any upper-level French courses. It's a shame cause he's a really awful professor. Also his real last name is Flanagan. He changed it to St. Aubin to sound more French.

I felt he was challenging, and I appreciate that. We spoke very little English, so it was more immersive than other language classes I've taken. I don't recall being given many phrases to memorize. We read and interpreted poems and other literature. I loved it.

Super funny guy, if you don't speak French well expect to get made fun of, even if you do speak well, expect to get made fun of. His lectures are way more useful than the homework, showing up for class is also a big part of the grade. His homewok assignments are really confusing though, and he is not clear about them at all.

The way he presents information is very clear. He does move along quickly, however, and there is a lot of homework and frequent random quizzes no one has prepared for. He has a good sense of humor, and even though there is a lot of homework, if you turn it in you generally get full credit. The class really isnt that bad

Actually does a pretty good job explaining things that being said he goes fast, though college languages are fast paced. His tests are relatively fair. However his day to day grading is unfair and harsh he assigns a lot of homework and grades all of it

Saint-Aubin isn't that bad. He likes you if he knows that you're a hard-worker. He only speaks french, which was intimidating to most people, but I have learned an incredible amount from him. I would recommend his french classes to anyone interested in the language

Expect to waste a semester. We have the most work out of all the CSP. He assigned us a reading day on the day before Thanksgiving and Oxy isnt even in session. For thanksgiving we have a movie to watch, 100+ pages to read and an essay to write. Expect to have a heavy work load and recieve no educational benefit.

Terrible, terrible professor. He gives an obsurd amount of work, then grades inconsistently and harshly. Our Core does more work than any other by far, and we have worse grades. I haven't improved my writing skills, and having to group present/"discuss" what happened in a book each class is a WASTE OF TIME, not to mention BORING for EVERYONE.
