He was absolutely terrible. Help is there if you're one of his "favorites" but if you aren't - it is a long wait before you get any kind of help from him. When you do get help, it's not clear AT ALL. He arbitrarily withholds your credits and when you challenge it he never gives you a solid answer. Terrible professor. Will never have again.

If you love music, and are willing to take responsibility for your participation and work, then you will learn copious amounts from this man. He is certainly willing, based on my own experience, to work with you when life gets in the way but if you are prone to making excuses and playing the victim, you won't get far with him. Excellent instructor!

Arun is about as out there as any Evergreen professor. The guy is a virtuoso of music and great for experienced musicians to work with. If you put for the effort, Arun will go far to help you get though his class.

I have known people who have taken music classes with Arun and they have had positive experiences. My experience, in a non-music class, was that Arun was poor at communicating complex ideas, quick to generate nonproductive conflict, and out of touch with the class he was teaching. Book selection intriguing, but basically random things Arun likes.

Arun's a great faculty member at Evergreen. I learned so much during my time in his program. He offered extra Saturday seminars due to student demand which I found invaluable. He expects students to think for themselves & encourages autonomy. If you can't handle that, you shouldn't choose his programs.

Arun Chandra is a life changing teacher. He is willing to teach a class that no one else would teach. He loves and cares for his students enough to not use the "normal" teaching technique, that is destructive and he knows it. He has a crazy sense of humor in the best way. He has taught me more in 4 years than anyone has ever taught me in my life

Arun "Arunicorn" Chandra talks like David Wain and teaches like Professor Arturo. He is one of the most absolutely brilliant men I've ever met. TAKE A CLASS WITH THIS MAN. The way he teaches makes you wish he was your dad so you could learn from him for your whole life. The guy I want to be when I grow up wants to be Arun Chandra when he grows up.

I was dropped from class due to absence from a medical emergency despite communication with him beforehand. Correspondence in regards to this and previous class experience confirm for me his immaturity in the realm of egalitarianism. It's unfortunate that his tendency towards arrogance often outlives his potential for inspiring creative thinkers.

Great prof. Challenges his students to think for themselves. As for those who say he's not a good teacher---he's not a teacher! Evergreen doesn't have teachers--only faculty. Try to wrap your head around that fact before coming. As for his favored students--all it takes to be one of those is to read the material and participate in discussions.

Like mentioned before, he brings his personal philosophies with him and preaches them. He belittles students even calling one "stupid little white girl." He is way out of line and should be monitored by the administration. He gives out huge assignments one day before they are due without mentioning his expectations. He's a fabulous musician.

Arun is very stubborn with his views, but he presents them well, along with a great variety of material, so that you know exactly where you disagree or agree with him. The fact that people have strong reactions against him signify that he is effectual, which is better than most TESC professors. He is, irrefutably, a great resource.

This class was all about promoting his personal views of how the world should be run. He team taught with Jeff Glassman. I personally think he should leave his personal philosophy out of the classroom.

Arun is the prime example of a great Evergreen faculty. The class is very unstructured, and if you don't want to learn you don't have to, but if you have the desire to think very hard about how you and society views certain things, then Arun will challenge you, and make you go through every single thought process possible.

Arun cannot teach. Left me with no idea of what what supposed to be happening most of the time, so little organization!! if you can't make that work for you, just make friends with him, get in with his little group of favored students and you'll be just fine.
