I took her for criminology. She requires you to actually read an extremely boring textbook but you do learn. Tests are easy if you study for them. Do the work and you will get the grade. She is extremely helpful and a very nice woman. I would recommend her only if you are truly interested, otherwise she will frustrate you.

Amazing!! One of the best professors at Marist! Just because people don't want to do any work it leads to them not liking her. She wrote me an excellent recommendation letter and I'm now at an Ivy League school. Overall just great!

Impossible. Yes, a GPA killer. Sadly most will have to take her twice. A ton of reading, tests and paper are graded as if they were for a masters or doctrine. She is helpful and in her office whenever you need it, which is all the time.

The worst teacher I have ever had.Ruined my GPA and the free grants I would have recieved from the college for GPA.Did more than sufficient work and still recieved a D.Unwilling to HELP students, just looking to discourage.LIES! Hard teacher, always asks you to "explain that more" when you answer anything even when you have exhausted the question. Absolutely killed my GPA by refusing to give anything above a B+ and even that is impossible to achieve.

I graduated a long time ago and came accross this site...things haven't changed. Lavin was the only woman to give me a C. I don't agree with those who say if you do the work you get an A. She only likes her opinions and doesn't listen to other views of theories etc. She is unreasonable when she asks questions, her tests don't match any material

There is not much I can say about this women that has not already been said. If you can avoid her do it, she is not nice when it comes to grades, gives you one for every class so expect to get a f if you dont feel like talkin and just sit there. More or less the worst teacher at Marist. Avoid, cant she leave the college yet?

And, to make matters worse she give these huge writing assignments and then expects you to remember every single thing in the assigned chapter. Word of advise, for all none criminal justice majors don't take this class

She is a hard ass, and likes to keep things one sided. She treats you like you are 7. If you are late she will stop the class and make a big deal out of it. She will say it distracts the class, but the thing that distracts the class was her. Can't leave class to use the bathroom. If U do leave the class when you get back get your books Leave.
