A great professor. Excellent at conveying the material to you, and very helpful in office hours. Be ready to share his fascination with the "particle in the one-dimensional box," and if you know what's good for you, do the practice problems. Pay special attention to the examples he does in lectures, because very similar problems show up on exams.

Chemistry is hard, and taking honors gen chem doesn't make it any easier. Dr. Kohler's lectures are usually interesting, but not always super engaging. That said, he's GREAT at explaining the content. Lecture workload was minimal, but you need to put in the time (do the non-graded problem sets, go to office hours, etc) to do well on the exams.

Your grade in this class depends on your past. Did you read the prerequisite chapters recommended by the syllabus? Did you do the practice problems? Have you taken AP Chemistry? Professor Kohler speaks to a higher level. You need to know the material well before lecture to really get it. If you're not ready to do the prep, you'll drop or fail.

It was a hard class. Usually freshman take this and it will open your eyes. Study the lecture notes, read the book ahead of time, don't fall behind. DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS. They will help. He's really funny and doesn't have any accent. However, he goes VERY deep into the material so be wary.

Sometimes the material was way over our heads but Dr. Kohler tried to bring it down to our level again. He's a brilliant guy but never flaunts it too much. It's important to keep up with the homework and practice problems; they're essential to do well on the exams and final. Office hours are fairly helpful.

I managed to get an A in the class thanks to Dr. Kohler's generous curve. As long as you make it a point to do the readings and go to the lectures you should be fine. I wouldn't really recommend this class for someone who hasn't taken AP in highschool. Overall, Dr. Kohler is a great guy and if you do what he says you should be fine

overall the class was pretty difficult. If you knew the lecture notes well you would do well on the tests and quizzes. I didnt really have to read the book all that much, only for the more complicated topics. As far as grades go he told us that 40% of the students would get some form of an A. I earned 883 out of 1000 points and received an A.

Managed to get a B+ with minimal work. But when I did work, I did it well! Lecture attendance is not necessary but you may want to attend class to keep up with notes. That way you won't be up all night before an exam! Dr. Kohler definitely knew all he needed to know. Interesting man.

A tough but not impossible class. Kohler's sense of humor makes the class liveable, though he does have the tendency to skim through complex passages super-fast.

This class was very difficult and required a lot of work. Most people failed the exams, but the average was curved to about a B+. His office hours are very busy, but he does his best to be very helpful. Go to your TA's office hours, because nobody ever goes to theirs so you can have one-on-one help.

Kohler's exams are pretty challenging, but he's very fair. Go to office hours to ask for help because he's willing to help you figure it out. I had to work hard in this class but it was worth it.
