Comment:

Mrs. Austin is a real blessing to beginner art students. She grades based on whether or not you've given it your best effort, but also looks for good craftsmanship. Art 103 is a pretty fun class. Art 105 is significantly more difficult but Mrs. Austin takes compassion on her students and sometimes extends deadlines for assignments.

Comment:

One of the best art teachers I've ever had, she is a motherly figure, but is not condescending in any way. Mrs. Austin is amazing at what she does, but she still looks to improve herself. She tends to be a little scatter-brained and gets off topic, but in a quirky, engaging way. I am taking her again for Human anatomy and design (ART105).

Oh, how I enjoyed this class. I took her Drawing and Composition class and LOVED every moment of it. Mrs. Austin did not just become my favorite teacher, she became a friend and motherly figure. She is slightly A.D.D. but that just adds to her exciting personality. She will spend time helping you in ANY way she can. Very helpful. Very recommended.

Mrs. Austin is simply wonderful. She really cares about the students and will let us have ipods in class, and go get drinks if we want to. She is chipper and fun to be around and a great teacher. She can be a little ADD but that is just part of her charm. I am going to try and get as many classes as I can with her and would recommend her to anyone.

Ms. Austin is so wonderful! She's not like other teachers--I actually looked forward to going to her class! She's so funny and laid-back. At the same time, though, her assignments can be hard, and she grades like other Harding art professors. But I'd recommend taking her for as many classes as you can. She actually cares about you, and it shows.

She is an awsome professor. Her one and only flaw is that she only trains you to become a studio artist - to make works that will sell, instead of simply being creative. Her excitment and enthusiasim are great to be around. Granted she is someone who lives in "organized chaos", but that only makes you think more. Her personal technique is admirable and she enjoys teaching by example. Be prepared for fun.

She was nice as a person, but she enjoyed being hard on our class! She told me she stayed up till 2 in the morning thinking about how to make our test harder because of a few students in the class that were a little mean! How unfair! My only problem with her was how unfair she was to our class because of a few students, she refussed to help us on things because of them. So,if you take her, make sure everyone in your class is nice to her! I didn't even mind how she taught even though it was very disorganized

Mrs. Austin is the rare art teacher who values a student's personal artistic development. She is by far one of Harding's best faculty members. Be prepared for her unconventional teaching style.
