Comment:

Dr. Marty was a very nice professor to take in one of his last semesters at Moody. I learned some good content in Old Testament had a fun time in his class overall over the course of the semester. No one will forget the Bible Walk-Through! "Creation, Fall, Flood, Nations..." I am glad I learned some from Dr. Marty during my time at Moody!

The papers are huge and incredibly time consuming. His class can be dry and boring. The quizzes can be difficult. He is a legend though and he laughs at himself which is really funny. But I have to try to stay awake in his class!

Dr. Marty is great. And he REALLY knows his stuff. Papers are long and time consuming but not hard. The weird grading scale makes it almost impossible to get an A. Lectures are interesting and he is funny-quite the character. I feel like I know so much more about the Old Testament than I did before. I look forward to having him again for NT.

You come out of the semester with a good amount a knowledge that you didn't have before hand. I feel the class could be better though. He's alright. He will kick you out of class if you are caught sleeping or on phone, etc. He's quite the character.

I am so blessed to have had Marty as my professor! Though the papers are time consuming and the test can be difficult, what you put into the class, you get out of it. Don't be intimidated your first day, you aren't expected to remember everything you hear. It's a great opportunity to open your eyes to the depth and complexity of the Old Testament!

I love Dr. Marty. He is a very wise, caring, & interesting professor. He knows so much about the Old Testament & the Christian life. He answers with love all the foolish questions the students ask simply to test his knowledge instead of actually learn more about the class. He is a true example of Christian character and knowledge. I learned a lot.

Marty is very knowledgeable but not a great teacher. His class workload is not hard but is time consuming. He teaches only his viewpoint and disregards all others. He is really funny and goofy but his class is kind of boring. His quizzes are hard. Take good notes in his class you will need them.

Amazing teacher. Very fun class. Busy work with the papers, but they get easier as the class progresses. He is an amazing guy who genuinely cares. The notes are vital, and the papers can take time. I got good at them, writing about 10pgs single spaced in 4 hours, getting 100/100 every time. The quizes are rough, but are possible to do well on.

His quizzes can be annoying as butt. Especially his earlier quizzes over the Pentateuch. Alot of his answers seem 'right' but He's looking for the one he hinted to in class. I actually recommend sitting in the front. Really helps. Also, if you're doing poorly on quizzes READ 'ENCOUNTERING THE OT'. He gets quite a few questions from there.

This teacher has the most unfair grading scale I've ever seen. Be forewarned, a 94 is a B and a 75 is failing. Also his quizzes are designed so the average grade is a D. Even though they're open book, don't let that trick you, he makes them impossible. Bill Marty sucks and needs to get real with this generation and ditch his ancient teaching habits

Marty is a nice prof for sure. Take heed though about his quizzes and tests, which like the person below, every answer could fit to some degree. On top of that, for all his classes, 90= B-, and below 75 is failing. Assignments are applicatory but busy work such as drawing and coloring a map of paul's missionary journey.
