He gives pop quizzes all the time so make sure you come to class and are prepared for it. Be very descriptive when doing his written tests. He grades them hard. If you don't participate, then you won't get a good grade in his class. Take good notes so you know what to prepare for so you can pass the test. He also picks favorites. Didn't like him...

Professor Palmer was wonderful to have in class if you love history like I do then you will not have a problem in his class. He will teach you a lot of things that you thought you would know from certain subjects and you will love the discussions as well. 10/10 would take again

Great Guy, the essay exams are easy as long as you go to class and take some notes. The book prompts are easy, as long as you actually try you'll pass. he gives extra credit if you participate. His lectures actually made me not even think to look at the time. I would take his class again any day.

Great professor, the essay exams are not difficult. His lectures really drive you in and make you feel like you're watching the events happening. The only problem I had was that everyday he would mention Donald Trump at least once.

This was my favorite professor at the beginning of the semester. He's highly intelligent, and class was never boring. However, keep up with your grades. His grading scale is confusing. I was convinced for a month I had enough points to be exempt for the final, and I ended up not. This costed me from getting on Dean's List. Beware.

The only prof @ Marshall who knows how 2 lecture. A real professor. However, he needs to add: COMINTERN (help us understand WHY communism became legit fear), Treaty of Brest-Litovsk, a bit of Yugoslavia, and Africa more. Africa was only vaguely mentioned regarding slavery and Portuguese--not good. Esp. tell us about what was going on in now Nigeria

Bill Palmer is the best history professor I've ever had the opportunity to take. The man is a genius, and hes there for you. He cares about his students, and he listens to what you have to say. He gets annoyed when you don't know what he means, but he makes everything clear as day, repeats it three times and writes important terms on the board

Bill is a great teacher. The class isn't easy, but it definitely won't take over your entire semester. I'd say the workload is very fair considering the nature of the class. If you are looking for a writing intensive credit, I would recommend this course. Be ready to take a lot of notes, but also be ready to learn a lot of really great information!

If you do the work, then it will be reflected in your grade. Class is interesting, and you learn a ton in just a short class! Overall, Palmer is a helpful guy, highly recommended to anyone who is willing to put forth effort. He encourages discussion and unique viewpoints. Expect lots of note taking; fair grader, willing to help.

Manages to make an intro-level course interesting and relatable to students. You'll learn a lot and learn it well. Only caution is that his expectations are high: he wants you to participate and his tests aren't easy. Willing to help students who are struggling.

Mr. Palmer was a pretty good teacher. He was really into what he teaches and tried to get the class involved. If you take him for 446 you get to read The Black Robe and watch the film, it's really interesting. He knows he looks like Mel Gibson.

Some people say he's boring, but even a 100-level class can be interesting if you get into his stories. If you do well enough on the quizzes, you don't have to talk in class. He's always willing to help. One of the more accessible history professors, if you make the effort to talk to him.

Dr. "Bill" Palmer is awesome. He is very laid back and really knows how to narrate his lectures. He will keep you engaged into the story he is telling. Come to class prepared to discuss, but enjoy! Easy grading. And he looks like Mel Gibson.

I just don't enjoy this class. He is annoying and expects these 100-level students to be excited and responsive to his boring lectures. He gets upset when people don't speak up in class, which is lame. I don't recommend him. Also he looks just like Mel Gibson.

Bill was awesome...end of story. No doubt that he is really smart but don't let it intimidate you. He will help you whenever you need it but you have to meet him half way by doing the work. Study and read the text for the exams cuz you'll need it but don't be afraid to ask him questions. I also thought his class was really funny. Hes hysterical
