Comment:
No reason to stay caught up with readings. Walsh tries to invite class participation, but then he just ends up mumbling his own thoughts the entire time. Hard to hear him speak and he sometimes makes (inadvertently) offensive comments. Easiest class I've ever taken, though. Two papers, midterm, and final (both take home) are the only grades.

I took GHS with Dr. Walsh and was so disappointed with the quality of the class. He mumbles his way through the class period and seems completely unprepared to speak on the subject matter. He also tries to crack jokes in class but the jokes were often offensive and inappropriate. Do not reccomend at all. This class was a waste of time!

Took it during the summer and did not learn a thing in class. He mumbled everything and speed read bits and pieces of the text. Could not understand half of what he said. With that being said, his class was extremely easy. All the tests were take home. But that 4 hours a day for class was SO PAINFUL.

Extremely entertaining and easy! I never cracked open a book, did daily writes in class, even sometimes wrote about how I didn't read the night before, and he would give me credit because I was honest and funny. Papers are simple, and all tests are either take home or on your computer, and looks the other way if you use the internet to help write.

He is a really funny old guy. If this isn't your concentration definitely take him. Just reiterate his main ideas in papers and participate in class and you will do well! Not much work loads and classes you might have to talk once but its pretty much just him giving goofy diatribes

For a GHS class, he knows the balance of engaging students and assigning work, yet not overbearing his students with pointless homework. He is one of the funniest professors I have ever had. Try to go later in the day as I found his class a bit boring at 9:00 a.m. Still, he is a great guy and a dedicated professor. Highly Recommend.

I've taken him for 2 classes now (185 and 363) and plan on taking a couple more from him. He's passionate, witty, and genuinely enjoys talking to you and about the class. Sometimes he strays from the topic and is not the greatest at engaging the class in discussion, but if you speak your mind he will greatly appreciate it. Take him for any class!

Taking him for summer school was a lot of fun but REALLY intense. Just as long as you had an opinion that you can back up he would respect it and give an A for analyzing the text. There was a LOT of reading but it wasn't too bad.

Brutal. If there's no class participation, which there is hard to have bc of how he "teaches", then he just makes fun of the class the whole time. The whole class he just asks over and over "So what did you think?". Not very effective at engaging the class in discussion. Very hard to get an A, but A-/B+ isn't too hard.

One of the very best GHS teachers. He knows the material and teaches it well. Homework is simple and useful, and testing is nothing unexpected. He is a really funny guy and loves making wildly sarcastic remarks when nobody is listening. I took his Shakespeare class for Humanities and it was excellent too!

He is extremely passionate about Shakespeare, and makes the subject material very clear. He can be a bit boring at times (but that's mostly just if the class does not participate well). So, if you choose to take a class of his, which I encourage, please, SPEAK UP! The class will be much more interesting this way.

This man is HILARIOUS! He is very sarcastic and has a very realistic outlook on life and the subjects he teaches. Whether you actually want to learn something, or you're just looking for a professor that wont put you to sleep in class, Walsh is for you. He is very lenient on papers and tests.

Very knowledgalbe of all the material. Pretty quirky and hilarious if sometimes a little boring. You are allowed to revise papers as many times as you want to get A's because he believes you should never not be allowed to continue to learn and improve, so that's cool.

He's cooky, but funny and goofy and let's you watch movies and wants you to understand the material. He looks way into things, so don't be afraid of over analysing. Occational papers, reading, usual lit stuff. Cool guy.
