I worked extremely hard in this class. Put 100% into my studying and essays & definitely deserved an A from the amount of effort I put in, but didn't get one. I enjoyed his lectures, really appreciated all of his insight. However, the fact that each essay was 20% of my grade made it impossible to get an A unless you consistently have amazing essays

Dr. Yarchin is a fabulous professor who loves his subject and cares for his students. Makes class very interesting and opens your eyes to what Scripture says. I'd recommend him for anyone having to take a bible class. He's the kind of professor you want to have in college. Must take!

Yarchin is AWESOME! Exo-Deut was so great with him! He has us really apply the Old Testament principles and see how they apply today with a new lens. Class discussions but he influences them and they were so great and I hate group things! Papers are just papers, put some thought into them and you'll be fine. He's very fair. TAKE YARCHIN!

Yarchin opened my eyes to topics I previously thought were inapplicable to me as a Christian today. He is a phenomenal instructor and such a kind man. If there is a teacher who is passionate and excellent in his field, it's Yarchin. Highly recommended.

Took for Honors, so glad I did! I was at another Christian university my fresh yr and I learned nothing from bible courses there but frustration at the ignorance of the profs, and it was a good school! Yarchin genuinely made me interested about the Bible, which is hard to do. Made it applicable to life beyond religion. Not too hard, but challenging

Yarchin is one of the BEST Bible profs on campus. He somehow manages to challenge the way that you have always viewed the Bible without being abrasive or leaving you in shambles. While the papers are pretty hard, he offers help and if you put in the work, an A is totally do-able. This is a GREAT class with a very wise, extremely intelligent prof.

He openly addresses the work that's demanded of this course on the first class. There is a ton of reading and lots of essays. If you want to learn the Bible and better understand the Old Testament, take this class. This course will expand your thinking but help you to articulate them. Take this course if you're willing to work and show up.

Great teacher, not the hardest class I've ever taken. I would recommend his class because I enjoyed it. However there were moments I felt like he threw out ideas and didn't clarify how they were relevant to the current topic. But he's a great teacher and knows the Bible extremely well, I would take him again!

Yarchin was the best professor I've ever had. He not only knew what he was talking about, but taught us so much about the old testament and how to read the Bible in general.I loved his class and looked forward to going everyday.Take him if you have the opportunity.Be ready to work, but your work will be paid off!! oh and we sing in Hebrew, TAKE HIM

Had him for both Heb Poetry + Wis Lit and Apo Lit. Incredibly knowledgeable, incredibly helpful, always willing to take time outside of class to help you out. The reading was very demanding for poetry and wisdom lit, apo lit wasnt as bad. He does tend to grade very hard and he is one of the hardest but most rewarding profs ive ever had. take him!

Wow- you cannot help but love this class... Yarchin is such an amazing professor. I loved going and discussing bc he always has something new to reveal... and he is SOO passionate about what he does. The best professot/educator I have had--ever. Knows his stuff. Is able to convey facts to help students understand. Gets students to think for themselves. Humble, brilliant, wise... WOULD DEFINITELY BE A FOOL TO GRADUATE WITHOUT TAKING ONE OF HIS CLASSES.

This guy is brilliant! He keeps you on your toes in his classes, but you learn alot. Becasue this was a freshman level class, he genrally dosen't have super high expectations for his assigments. Also, his tests in this class are a cake walk. Go out of you way to get this prof. He is worth every onuce of inconvienience, if there is any!

This was my favorite Biblical Studies class (I was a minor). I was fortunate enough to get a spot in Biblical Apocalyptic. The class was quite difficult and required a *lot* of outside reading. With this class however, you want to do the reading because the subject is so interesting. Do not expect an A unless you are a solid writer though because your entire grade is based on a few papers and class participation. I can't recommend this class highly enough, take it if you can get in!
