She's okay. Lecture based learning. Will call on people to ask questions. Points for at least being there, more depending on how well you answer the question. Tests aren't to bad. Based on homework/practice tests. Go to tutor or ask her questions personally cause her lecturing skills are subpar.

Comment:

Professor Murnik is adorable. She gives a quiz after each lecture and before each lab. They're work 5 points each so getting those easy 5 points is important to your grade. If you get a 70% or better on your tests, you don't have to take the final. She's very helpful and knows what she's talking about. She might get a bit off topic sometimes.

I did not like her. She's a really nice lady but in my opinion, she's to0 old to be teaching. If you sit in the back of the class you'll never ever be able to hear anything she says because she's so quiet.

Comment:

Murnik is a sweet old lady, but she also teaches like one. Lectures are long, monotonous, and usually come right out of her brain instead of the textbook so they are missing a lot of information. Open note quizzes are at the end of every period, usually worth 3-5 points. It is boring, you won't really learn much, and the class is poorly structured.

You need to go to class because she collects and hands out homework assignments every day. The assignments are super easy and don't take much time at all. Lectures can get pretty boring but you have a course pack with all the notes. She does call on people randomly so you do have to pay attention.

There are daily quizzes to ensure attendance; usually out of 5 points. She also takes attendance and you are absent if you are 5min late. Lectures are fast and take the whole class period. Labs are fun. Buy the lecture guide. MUST have lab manual. Also MUST buy scran-trons. I rented the text book; only looked at it for clarity. You could get by.

Murnik is a nice lady who is really experienced in her field, only issue is the class can be really drawn out and boring on occasion. Found myself drifting off a lot during class and had to cram a bit for the exams, but they weren't very difficult and were based almost entirely off of the study guides provided. Easy grader on papers too!

Super kind woman, but not the best prof. She really didn't teach me anything. Disliked the textbook and the way she structured the class. Would take a different prof if I were to redo it, because I want to learn the material. However, this was the easiest science-class A I've gotten, compared to the time invested.

Don't take her class if you can help it. Classroom set up is horrible. Lectures are worse Only way to do well in the class is to rely on the book. If you need help, she'll send you to her tutor who doesn't help. If you go to her she'll brush you off or explain whatever you need help on the same way over and over. Lab is the only easy part of class.

LOVE HER! She does really welland takes her time to explain her stuff. The lecture guides go exactly with her slide shows. She also provides tutoring sessions for you that you get alot of extra credit for! Test are super easy! She gives you a study guide before each test. I RECOMMEND!!!!

One of the worst teachers I've had. Lecture guide is scattered/random and no help when studying; assignments helpful but only if the book is used. Read every chapter before and after lecture - basically taught myself genetics. Tests are difficult only because she looks for the answers she gives in her lecture guide - good luck finding them!

Only good thing is the tests are very straightforward. You are tested on exactly what's in the lecture and lecture guide. Pretty much taught myself genetics. Really bad teaching skills. Just doesn't realize we don't know what she does and flies through massive complex ideas an assumes we know them, then quizzes us on what she just very poorly taught, then get marked down. Very frustrating. If you know how to study you'll do fine. Tutor is a must.

Without old tests I wouldnt have done as well. Her lecture guides are very confusing and she isnt the best at explaining things. If she does try to reexplain it, she never does it in a new way. But she is very welcoming to office hours and a tutor helps too.
