Dr. Hestir is an amazing person. He's incredibly passionate about what he teaches. One of the first classes, we went in and did meditation exercises for most of the class. That's not to say the class is a joke -- you definitely work and learn a lot, but he goes beyond in trying to improve your general well-being. He's a very positive and fun guy.

Hestir was my professor for the 1st term. He's a really passionate guy who knows and cares about what he's teaching. Unlike most classes, this course is actually fun to pay attention to. Quiz was open book. Take notes (1 page a day) to do well on the test, what he talks about is exactly what's on the test. HW was readings, about once a week (easy).

Dr. Hestir is one of the most understanding professors I've ever had at TCU. He genuinely wants you to succeed and takes time to get to know you personally. He is an excellent professor and writes all the important information on the board during his lectures. The tests are tough and you HAVE to do the readings, though!

I took Intro to Philosophy from Dr. Hestir. I didn't care much for philosophy in general; however, this class was a good humanities credit. There is a good deal of work, but if you do it all and study regularly you should have no problem making a good grade. Dr. Hestir's lectures are funny and engaging and he makes the material interesting.

Out of my 4 philosophy professors, he was one of my favorites. One of the only ones who made the class interesting and understandable. The class itself it's waaaaay hard. He's funny though.

Hestir is a pretty funny guy that is nice and easily approachable for help. The Philosophy One course was a little on the difficult side due to multiple readings and on average one 1 page response paper per week. The class is very interesting and he makes it enjoyable.

Dr. Hestir is an amazing teacher. I really enjoyed how light the class was and he usually cracks at least 5 jokes each class. Really intersting material and if you EVER have a question about anything, he always replys back to your e-mails quickly. Take one of his classes!!

Professor Hestir is by far the best philosophy teacher at TCU. I took existentialism and learned a lot. It's a tough subject, but if you take the time you'll do well in the class.

Very interesting and laid-back professor. Class with him was always intriguing and fun. He makes taking notes easy. Plus, he's incredibly attractive...like a mix between Snape and Hugh Grant.

great lectures. you could interrupt him mid-sentence and let the class turn into a discussion. also was real lenient when i had to miss my final exam and term paper-he omitted those grades and gave me whatever grade i had in the course at the time.

Hestir has interesting lectures and puts good notes on the board so you know what's important. However, you can be positive you understand the philosophy but still make crazy inconsistent grades on the test, so it's advisable to talk with him prior about his interpretations

Amazing. Tests are based on lectures and he puts lots of notes on the board to help out. At times a little vague, but the class was Existentialism which is vague in and of itself. Easy to reach during office hours or through e-mail. Enjoys talking to students about the lectures and films he uses. No doubt my favorite professor at TCU.

He is a fantastic professor. So funny and cute, so its easy to pay attention. The test questions come straight from the notes, so if you show up and take good notes, you will be fine. He loves his Guinness too! Offers review sessions prior to the exams which is extremely helpful. I took Honors Philosophy 1003 from him and hope I get him again.
