Professor Gowen is very kind. You must write 4 papers in the class along with reading assignments. You will have chances to revise your papers and he will give you notes. As long as you revise your papers you should get an A in this class. * Class time and lectures can be extremely dull. Gowen is a nice guy and this is an easy class. Take it!

Mr. G really cares about his students. I didnt need this class but I am glad I took it. I learned so much from him. Lost of essays, but he really works with you and helps you improve. Do the work, put some effort into it and it's an easy A. Yes he will call on you to read out loud. Interesting articles to read and write 250 words about . Easy

Pretty good professor. Really laid back and honestly can just wing the class but it's not wise to slack off either. Besides constant writing, he gives good feedback and is more than happy to meet out of class to help you improve in class. Lectures may be a bit boring and repetitive but really helps out when you need it.

Honestly such a sweet teacher but the class is kind of boring but miss three classes and your grade goes down. A lot of reading in his class but its easy to get an A. I dont prefer the way he lays out his essays but in the end it all got done. Really great teacher but the class itself is just kind of boring.

Professor Gowen has been so helpful with my English 50 class. He is very attentive and will always help you if you ask. He has made my writing so much better, and made me push out of my comfort zone. This was my first on campus class I took and he was really awesome! Definitely take him if you struggle in writing (or not) he's honestly the best

Seriously the best English teacher ever, but not only that but the most enthused professor I have ever had. Take him if you struggle with writting. I dont. but he really does work with you. He sets out meeting times just to go over your work and give you ideas on how to make it better. He really cares!

BEST English teacher I have ever had. Very organized and straightforward about how the class works. 100% RECOMMEND. There are 4 essays, 21 journal entries consisting of 250 words or more, and lectures. Very happy I took him as my last English class. Take him!!

A 4.6 review is very accurate for this gem of a dude. He has a great chill surfer vibe. My class had 21 journals of 250 words over the semester and 4 essays. The first is easy. The second one is rhetorical analysis, the third is an outline for the 4th one. The 4th is on a place/name and how significant it means to you. The class is good overall.

Professor Gowen is absolutely fantastic!He is open-minded and enjoys listening to his student's stories and opinions during class. Professor takes time to know each of his students and offers a ton of help whenever needed. He wants you to pass! He provides excellent feedback and teaches well. Homework assignments are fairly easy. You won't be bored

I probably enjoyed Professor Gowen's class more than any other I've taken so far. He's very laid back and friendly, the typical classwork is mostly open-ended reading responses, and while he's no slouch on the papers, he makes a real effort to give you good, useful feedback and lets you turn in as many drafts as you want for a better grade.

Professor Gowen is a very caring man, and he wants you to do your very best. Even though he gets sidetracked in class often, he sill gives good information in the classroom, and I always felt inspired to write something after class (I am not a writer). He is very easy to access after class, and will go out of his way to help you with an assignment.

I loved having his class. He was very calm, and he enjoys the time he spends with his students. There is a lot of reading and the only homework usually assigned is reading and essay writings. I'd recommend him to anyone for an English class.

Professor Gowen is very nice. He loves his subject which almost made me enjoy english. He grades not based on content but, grammar. If you are weak with grammar, don't take him. I don't feel like I learned much of anything from him, but I did enjoy his class. A lot of reading; interesting, yet irrelevant articles.
