Comment:

The best math class yet. He promotes a interactive class. He makes the learning environment fun. I have never had that much fun in a math class. Only down side that I could find was he can be a little disorganized. Hey everyone has to have one fault but it doesn't get in the way of learning material.

Professor Pickett Is a great guy. He gets off topic a lot but its very apparent he cares about the health and well being of all of his students. He really wants everyone to pass and is a humble man when it comes to mistakes (which he makes a lot of) He goes kind of fast so if you are comfortable with your math skills Take his course. ASK QUESTIONS!

Comment:

I enjoyed his class! My class was very interactive with each other, making it easy to ask questions. If you're not good at math already, you may struggle, he tends to make mistakes and skip over main points, so don't be afraid to ask a lot of questions. Class attendance is mandatory or you won't know test dates. He also doesn't use canvas.

Comment:

Pickett is a good teacher except he makes LOTS of mistakes and he DOES NOT respond to emails. I missed come class due to medical situations and emailed him asking for test dates and what sections had been covered and he never responded. Also he does not use canvas or any platform to upload his work so his class is basically you teach yourself.

He is very caring except he focuses his attention on a certain section of class so make sure you sit where you'll be able to see his work on the board. Tends to make a lot of mistakes which can be very frustrating. A lot of time needed to actually teach yourself the lesson on your own.

Pickett is a great guy. He is an okay professor, but that's okay since he makes his classes easier. He does not try to mess you up in the exams. Nevertheless, he is kinda unorganized, so that might make the class a little more challenging. But since he is pretty straightforward on his exams, you can have a good grade without studying too much.

Hes a good professor. Hell move on if you donthave any questions. So, dont be shy to ask questions until you understnad the material. He doesnt give quizzes and doesnt check homeworks. So, you have to work harder. If youre planning to take his class, dont be scared, breathe and say I can do and pass this class! So goodluck! You can do it!

Very good teacher highly recommend you take this class with this professor if you arent good in math you will pass this class!! He lets you use notes on all quizzes,midterm and final he actually cares enough to teach you multiple ways to understand the material like I said if you struggle in math take him you will pass this class!

Comment:

Professor Brent Pickett is great. He'll go through every example methodically, and even re-explain things for you. He also gave unofficial study sessions on Fridays to help struggling students. He often tells stories to lighten the mood, so be aware of that. Know that he makes a lot of arithmetic errors, so don't be afraid to point them out.

Brent is one of the most caring teachers I have ever met. He really puts in the work to make sure each student has the tools to succeed. Hes a little scatter-brained at times but he definitely knows his stuff.

He is a board writer. He will have notes in front of him but will clearly go through every step of the problem on the board. He gives homework suggestion but never collects the homework so all grades are based on the 4 tests and 2 quizzes. His tests are hard but he prepares you for them. He is always willing to help outside of class.

This review is for math 28 class. This is a very sweet man who just loves math! He is humble down to earth math nerd and he is rad! I have not been in school for many years. The transition has been easy and should I even say enjoyable with Mr. Pickett's class LOL! He truly cares about your understanding if your willing to learn. : )

This accelerated course was a nightmare. Pickett was unorganized and confusing. He didn't explain things (well) and made mistakes. We skipped A LOT of content. He relied on the Math Learning Center and expected students to study together because it's "the only way to learn math". The tests were significantly harder than what was done in class.

I loved his lecture. He is always nice to everyone and tries to explain problems in easy ways. However, try not to skip class. Once you skip one lecture, one or two chapters are gonna be missed.

If you have no other choice but to take his class, Study the book and go to the FLS. Class is only for attendance and to take the tests because his lectures are full of mistakes that will definitely confuse you. Professor is nice, but unorganized. Do not expect to know your grade right away, he takes a week or so to Grade tests. WarnIng!

Comment:

I realized that after my first test, it was the biggest mistake that I have ever done. He goes off of examples which then he ruins by messing up therefore making it hard to learn. Although he is a very nice guy, he's at the point where he should stop teaching math because its deteriorating. Don't take him if you truly want to grasp the concept.

Pickett balances a.) being reasonable and forgiving, & b). showing "tough love" so you actually do the work needed to prepare for their future classes. I learned a lot in this class and had my questions answered and received generous attention in office hours. In the math sequence, having a good teacher doesn't always mean having an easy teacher.
