Great professor. Pretty good class although the research paper is graded a bit unfairly. One of the best professors and nicest guys there is.

Professor Griffith is interesting, funny, and altogether a great professor. I loved his class! However, some of the TAs graded really tough on the two papers.

Take as many of BG's classes as you can. He's an incredible lecturer who consistently makes material clear and interesting. Everyone feels inspired at the end of each of his sessions. Don't hesitate; he's the one you want.

BG is the best. The only problem with this class is that there are only like 4 grades in the whole grade book, so every paper/midterm counts for a ton. But he rocks, HOD as a whole rocks, take this class.

Class is interesting. Gets you thinking about life. Tests are REALLY easy and papers are straightforward and graded easily. Everyone gets an A or B. The lab for the class is pretty pointless and long, but easy and occasionally entertaining.

There are a couple long papers and a couple big tests (SET ASIDE TIME FOR BOTH). Aside from that, the course material is easy to understand and lectures are enjoyable.

BG has by far been my favorite professor at Vanderbilt. He does his best to engage his large lectures through use of humor and relevant content, and while his the questions on his tests can be quite specific, you can certainly do well if you study. He is very conscious of our stress about grades and does his best to alleviate that.

Study concepts, know terms associated with the concepts, & read the ClassPaks. He asks oddly specific questions on the readings. Not bad since only tests are a midterm and a final. There are 2 large papers that you should start at least a week or 2 ahead of time if you want to do well. I found the content very interesting and relevant to real life.

Anybody who complains about BG's tests is going to be in for something else when they try to move forward at vandy. I have seen the way other people study for tests like calc, and gen chem and comparing how much i prepared for BG's test, to what they do, BG is a breeze. Review the book, read classpac, youll be fine.

BG IS AMAZING. Period. He is a great person, and an amazing professor. Always willing to help, genuinely cares about his students -- not just academically, but personally as well. Tries to get us all to understand that grades / academics are not the most important thing, but rather being good people and making a difference in the world. Good class!

This class is incredibly interesting and applicable to everyday life. There are only two tests a semester although there are a few papers. If you do the readings and skim your notes from them and from lectures as a review you will do well on the tests.

Comment:
Prof. Griffith always gives interesting lectures but they are often too long and obviously these lectures can barely cover half of the materials discussed in the textbook. The test is tricky because it asks about very specific ideas in the classpak readings and textbooks and many of the questions are ambiguous.

Professor Griffith tries to make his content interesting, but often falls short of it, especially when he has technical issues (which happen during every lecture) andor goes off track and doesn't finish his lectures (a large majority of lectures). His tests cover a lot of material which is not discussed in lecture, and are irritatingly specific.

Comment:
Professor Griffith is a funny guy but his lectures are long and very shallow. The tests are deceptively hard because the material on them is barely covered in lecture and it takes a lot of reading to fully comprehend the nit picky answers. The professor himself often comes across as condescending, in my opinion.

Not everyone is a fan, but I personally think Griffith is amazing in how he runs and organizes lecture. He always kept me awake, and I always felt like he was teaching something that would stick deep with me, or something that is unbelievably applicable in life. Essays are graded pretty easily (somewhat arbitrarily) and exams aren't too bad.

Professor Griffith gives great lectures that really cover everything you need to know for the midterm and the final. Tests are about applying the theories from the textbook so you have to know your stuff. Papers are long but if you are a good writer and you follow the format, you will get a good grade.

This class can really change your outlook on life and Griffith is great. Lectures occasionally get boring, but usually it is interesting, and everything you learn is extremely applicable to your everyday life. Readings are important for exams and long. Great pop-culture references that create lasting memories. Not easy, but not too hard either.

Comment:
Be prepared for very, very long lectures. He often rambles on various tangents and does not get to the point of the lectures. He's very interesting speaker, though, and often ties in pop culture references. The TAs can be tough on papers, so make sure to put effort into them. Only tests are the midterm and final.
