Great person. Really, and I man really cares about student success. Like to the point that he'll spend three weeks working out something for you as an adviser. As a professor, it's more about understanding with him; the grades are secondary.

Dr. Thoms is a great teacher. Although PHYS 3300 is not a typical lecture class, Dr. Thoms is great at answering questions and his expectations are very clear. He really wants you to learn and he makes himself very available.

Don't listen to the people who say don't take him. Those are the ones who don't show up to class, don't do their homework, etc. Dr. Thoms is a really good teacher, and he explains the concepts really well. Make sure you take notes on concepts that he explains in class, and do your homework and the class won't give you any trouble

I would recommend taking someone else. He doesn't explain well. This is an intro class and he's better fit for 3000 classes. Gives reading quizzes every class. Tests are hard due to the time(1hr.)and gives LOTS of busy work. Also,in combined lab&lec. it was horrible to sit for 2 hrs with him not making sense. Lots of confusion, Briana (TA) was good

Does not teach! He doesn't go over full details, he just expects you to know it as if it were common sense. I've never seen so many lost & confused students in a class. will give you a reading quiz every class(when class starts)& his tests are extremely hard because he gives us little-to-no time to complete it. Take my advice...just don't take him.

Dr. Thoms is one of most down to earth professors you'll ever meet! He always makes time to be helpful, even outside his office hours. Exams are fair.

Best physics teacher at state, without a doubt. He is so enthusiastic about the subject he makes sure he finds a way to interest everyone. Very hands on with examples. Extremely happy to help you learn.. go to him with ANY questions, he loves it and in turn, will like you more (big plus!)

Dr. thoms is a great physics teacher...i think the best at state. He gives a good bit of outside work so the tests dont weigh as much, and he is clearly excited about physics which makes it easier to learn.

He's well-equipped to teach this course. If you get confused, ask questions. He's thorough if you can lead him in the direction you don't understand

Not a great professor. Take him if you want to learn how to apple electrical circuits to your life, because that is his goal. Don't take him if you just want to get through the class. He's too hard for that.

I thought that Dr. Thoms did an excellent job of conveying the material. The homework assignments and worksheets helped the students keep up with the necessary material. The exams were not too difficult if you did all of the work and went to class. He usually let the students know what kind of problems were going to be on the exams. Not bad!

First of all, this subject is hard anyway! (unless ur naturally bright at it). He does explain all his material, but unfortunately he doesn't know different ways to teach it if u don't understand. however he will take time out if u need some office hours or more understanding. he wasn't a bad teacher at all. He's just tough!

He's a very knowledgable guy and very helpful, if you want to learn physics. Most people are angry at him becuase Physics is hard and they're dumb. He tries his best not to let you fall behind the class by giving short quizzes during the class. A great advisor, too.
