If you demonstrate an interest in the subject, Bruce will help you to the fullest extent. Don't take the class if you have no prior knowledge to the subject of philosophy.

This class was one of the most interesting that I've taken at Tulane. The class is based around weekly readings and a weekly quiz, but there are no papers, midterms, or tests. I'd say between 4-8 hours of outside work is required per week... but the readings are thought provoking and contribute to really rich in-class conversation. Take this class!

Helped me a great deal in developing my design. Did not impose his own ideas or style but did help me clarify my own intentions and produce a real building. My best design studio instructor so far.

Much more interesting class than I thought it would be, and very helpful for design. Info was presented clearly and course was well-organized. Bruce seeems to know everything worth knowing about structure and construction. I like the fact that the material was integrated into the design studio project, which made it relevant and useful.

This is the only truly inspirational class I've taken in college. It dealt with all the big questions, from the structure of reality and perception to the meaning of life, ranged from philosophy to evolutionary psychology, and put it all in a compelling and well-organized context related to architecture. And Bruce is a patient and accessible prof.

DO take Philosophy of Architecture! BEST CLASS IN THE SCHOOL! The problem with these ratings is that the sample is self-selecting; I bet I know who the guy is who hated the class: missed classes, didn't do the reading, never talked in class. I'd guess half the students in the class thought it was the BEST one they'd ever taken.

DO NOT TAKE PHILOSOPHY OF ARCHITECTURE! Worst class in the school!!! And Bruce was supposed to sit on my Thesis review and stood outside my presentation area, in my view for the first 10 mins of my thesis review watching someone elses, then came and asked questions about everything I had already gone over.

Bruce-a-saurus is overrated. He can be snobby but he obviously knows about construction. The problem? He doesn't share it in a way that we all get it. He's an average professor in my opinion- he will neither be forgotten nor missed when he leaves.

Bruce is the man. He is tall and hilarious. If you can help it, get into his studio group and actually talk to him about real things. You will find out he is a paraglider and he will explain to you logical stuff about architecture.

It would have helped if we did something more hands on with real applications to what we were learning rather than buildings models in studio. The link between studio and stec should be loosened so that if you slack in studio, it didnt hurt ur STEC grade.

He loves architecture but he's too pragmatic. Every design is a linear problem and he needs to let some students explore a little bit more. The world shouldn't be covered with WalMarts...
