Professor Kalk is the kindest professor. He is very understanding, and genuinely cares about his students. He makes class fun and interesting. He has strict attendance and cell phone policy, and you have to be aware of assignments listed in the syllabus. Overall, wonderful professor!

Not a good grader, doesn't explain what he wants, basis the class on one major assignment, i did not like him at all. I went to him for help and he did not help at all, he most likely told me to figure it out myself.

I had Dr. Kalk for INQ and he was great! We didn't have a ton of assignments and he gave a lot of chances for extra credit. I don't think a day passed by where he wasn't smiling. Extremely helpful as a freshman when you're transitioning. Knows what he's talking about and knows how to help. Consider yourself lucky if you have him!

He was one of the best teachers that I ever had at SCSU. He gives an extensions on the essays if you have an excuse. He is pretty cool. There is 10 small quizzes in the semester and 2 or 3 essays. I recommend him for everyone!!!

DR. KALK IS ONE OF SCSU'S FINEST PROFESSORS. EXTREMELY ENTHUSIASTIC. ALWAYS IN A CHEERFUL MOOD. HIS PASSION FOR HISTORY IS UNMARKABLE. THIS CLASS WAS VERY INTRIGUING. THE MATERIAL COVERED WAS INTELLECTUALLY STIMULATING. TESTS WERE EASY. ONLY HAD TO IDENTIFY 4 TERMS OUT OF 7. ONE 8PG TERM PAPER AND FINAL. I SERIOUSLY RECOMMEND TAKING HIM!

This is a really cool class. Dr. Kalk presents some excellent films and places them in the proper historic context. Not a lot of reading, but be prepared to write (this is college after all). This is a really good clas if you need an L.

Dr. Kalk is a great professor to have for this class. He is a very good writer & as such, he can help you steer your paper in the right direction. But you have to want to do it. If you don't care, neither will he, and rightly so. You must make the effort...and if he says your writing isn't great, that is because it isn't. Grades fairly, not biased.

Dr. Kalk has been by far the most fair and to the point teacher I have ever had at southern. He knows his material like the back of his hand, and has been the most helpful teacher I've ever had.I recomend to anyone to take a class with him. Trust me I'm no model student

Very intelligent man who can really tell a story. History through film was one of my favorite classes ever. Also loved the lecture on Alfred Kinsey. Likes a lot of detail in essays. Excellent teacher!
