Professor McEachern's class was amazing. It qualified for a capstone and a W class. The class was online heavy as it met once a week, but the time spent in class was very fun and useful. I recommend this class for anyone looking to fill those two requirements I stated.

A fair amount of reading (... it is an English course). Writing about pretty relevant, interesting topics. He does limit you to sources that he provides, which was tough and frankly annoying. Easy grader, requires that you present your draft papers to your peers, which helps to edit.

Solid class with a fantastic / hilarious professor. You have 1-2 BlackBoard assignments each week, which are based on what you do during class. The group project isn't as bad as it seems, as 5 pages ends up being one page per person. The final paper is just making sure you learned something but does require a decent amount of work.

Without a doubt one of my favorite teachers at southern - this class was specifically for CMD majors prepping for the GRE writing portion and everyone i know has done well on that portion thanks to him. He's funny, caring, and has been helpful to reach out to even after taking his class

He gives two group projects, on worth 20% and one worth 10%. That's cool if you have a good group, or don't care about your grade. Having a bad group could seriously hurt your grade.

Prof is a great teacher, provides great feedback, very nice person. That being said, course should be renamed into "technical writing for English teachers." Class studied how to put admin paperwork together -- syllabus, unit, schedule, essay prompt. Very little was conveyed about the act of teaching, practice time to actually teach was minimal.

He is such an amazing professor! Took him for ENG 294! It was a W course and nothing was too tedious or difficult. It is actually one of the most interesting classes I have ever taken. I highly recommend this class. If you do your work, which is not too much, you will get an A

I took Professor McEachern's class over the summer, and I adored the class and him. He's super funny and mellow; always open to be helpful to his students! He used relevant issues (technology, immigration, the environment) as topics for class, and you learn all kinds of argument structures and techniques. I recommend him!

This was my first class back after years away from the classroom. Professor McEachern was great for helping ease back into the routine. But I also learned a lot from the course content itself, I was able to apply what was taught immediately in my job. Very straigt forward way of teaching, using case studies making it much easier to relate & retain.

The only thing you could fault this prof for is being TOO easy. He is a nice guy and if you put in some effort, he'll carry you the rest of the way.

He refused to answer questions and merely lead you back to various web sites for instruction in MLA format, which all contradicted each other. His grading was unfair and when asked to describe his reasoning behind a grade so you could do better next time he had no real answer. Try another teacher, this guy is nice but useless as an educator.

Writing is my worst subject and I got an A in the class. If you follow his structure it is easy to get the good grade. You do not have to participate. Only 3 essays to write.

He is awesome!!... he is a great teacher and is such a nice guy! His papers require you to think of topics on your own and find ways of supporting it ...all his papers require revision over revision but he is willing to help you. He is always there for ideas that you need on papers ....great teacher!

Gives interesting assignments that take time, thought, and effort, expects revision to be re-vision (looking at the topic in another way),and challenges and stretches us. Kind, wise, caring, funny man. The BEST!

I took Prof. McEachern last semester and am taking 2 classes this semester. He is one of the best profs I've had. Everything I've learned is stuff I use on a day-to-day basis. Even if you're not an english major (which I'm not), his classes are great.
