Didn't care for photography until I took her 164 and 135 classes, and her classes managed to spark a love for fine art photography, and brought a new way I think. She's humorous, grades fair, and gives great feedback; Just do the work. Didn't learn much I didn't I didn't already know in photo editing, but grew into a aspiring photographer.

The most talented professor/teacher I've had. She is a tough grader, but other aspects listed above outweigh it, plus she gives one plenty of time for a re-submission if you're not satisfied with your grade and explains clearly what you need to improve. She is a fine-art photographer and strives to bring that out in students who may not understand.

Hands down, best teacher ever! She is amazing. Always helpful; lectures are clear, concise, to the point; always has ideas to help you out; great feedback; encouragement; moves class along quickly but pace is perfect, always doable; have accomplished more in her classes than all others combined. I just never understood why we had to print our pictures at a photography shop in Poquoson. I never had a chance to show how I like photography.I had an eye for sports photography. I had accommodations and she never followed it. She wanted me drop the class because I was failing. All I can say from this class is to do your very best.

I would recommend Professor Layton to any photography student. Or even a student with no interest and just needs an elective. She helps break down any assignment. If you have any questions about an assignment she always helps you clarify. I looked forward to her classes every week. She also works with you if you can't attend class. Just email her.

Introduction to Digital Photography, this class is more about how to edit your photos in Photoshop than how to take them. You get the basics- rule of thirds, leading lines etc, however she looks at everything as if it was intended to be art. Does not really allow for different aesthetic taste in art- take pics of what you think *SHE* will like!!!!

The TNCC Photo Program used to be great. Now we have to take all these computer arts courses liek layout and design and video. My time and money are valuable. This degree doesn't even transfer anymore. No 3D design which I needed.

One of the BEST Professors at TNCC. She is a master at her craft. Always has time for her students and will conduct one-on-one instruction if needed. Her cheery personality and profession demeanor is a welcome change from other Professors. Its been a pleasure to have been her student-I learned a lot from Professor Layton.

Excellent teacher. knowledgeable. helpful. knows how to structure a class and keep it moving. interesting projects (when you get into the work). Every person in our class came every week, and attended every critique, and turned in work for every assignment, and that says something! Enjoyable! even on the last day!
