Comment:
This class was somewhat bizarre, but it was fairly easy to get a B. His lectures are very hard to follow & don't really prepare you for the HW or exams. The HW's are easy. The exams are open note but have some very odd q's. The project isn't made clear, but seems like just a completion grade. He is elderly & seems pretty over teaching at this point

A solid background in Math is very important for this class as you'll need to grasp linear algebra and multivar calc. Moody's lectures are difficult to understand, but you should go to class since it helps when you read the slides. That said, understanding is the hardest part; questions are easy. He also let us out of class early half the time.

Moody is my favorite professor. Don't give a xxxx to attendance or even when to submit homework and final project. He just wants students to know what they are learning. His teachings are hard to understand if you don't preview and not a genius. Do the work and you will learn a lot. Send him email if you want to know something. He is very accessibl

Great professor. Time Series Econometics exposed us to PhD level material with undergraduate expectations. Would take again.

Mathematical Economics is taught like a grad school class in that no attendance is taken, he lectures to the board, and the material is grad school level. Extremely useful material, but be prepared to work hard if you do not have a strong math background. Good notes are absolutely essential to success and tests are open note. Also, Moody is a boss.

The man is brilliant. Hard to understand the lectures if you aren't a genius, but if you catch on to even a tiny bit of the complex material he exposes you to, you will survive and have a handle on some very valuable econometric techniques. Key to survival: Treat the Stata Manual like a soldier treats his rifle in battle.

Prof. Moody is genuinely helpful. He is a good professor who happens to teach difficult courses. It's not his fault some of the material is difficult at first. He is hilarious in class and extremely flexible with deadlines.

Moody is my major advisor for a reason. I love the man and his teaching, quirky but practical. You'll leave the open note exams feeling like you failed, but he curves generously. Moody doesn't do the proofs for the sake of doing proofs; they will help you understand the concepts if you just let them!

Moody is the man. One of my favorite professors in the Econ department. Many people don't like him because the majority of the class is proofs, but the TF midterm is easy, homework assignments are easy, and the final is easy. In 408, you only have homework and the paper. It's even easier than 308 was. If you like econ, take his class.

I truly enjoyed the class. It is difficult but extremely helpful if you think about a grad school or any kind of research. Stata Manual is genius and the only thing you would need. Exams are very difficult but he curves them. Pr Moody's knowledge and passion about the class really motivated me to do the research. I recommen the class!

I really wanted to understand econometrics, but essentially I copied down what he said and then passed the open-note tests by somehow figuring out what he may have meant. If you don't mind this, this is not a difficult course - just a frustrating and somewhat useless one.

This is a difficult and extremely useful class. Prof. Moody is a bit shy and talks to the board instead of to students, reciting quick derivations, and zips away after class, but if you knock on his door and ask him, he will help you understand the concepts. Just know that you cannot be a serious financial analyst or economist without this class.

Moody knows that all you care about is getting a job, so he tailors his course in a way so that you learn lots of new skills that improve your resume. He doesn't care about due dates, and tests are curved. Final paper is basically a completion grade. No reason you shouldn't get at least a B-.

This guy is *brilliant*. I'm now a professor, and I will always be in his debt. You will have to work HARD to grasp his material (in any of his classes), and he does NOT coddle you, but every word from his lectures is like printing money. If you realize this, then you don't NEED to be coddled, and you will hang on his every lemma and theorem!

The previous rating is for math econ too. This class is horrible. I felt like I was going to die every class as I wrote at least 6 pages of math-jumbo I to this day do not understand.

Without warning, this class forces you to teach yourself Multivariable calc AND Linear Algebra. If that is not enough, you have to grasp the economic concepts too. Even as a math-y person I found his lectures incoherent and useless. He also has a large chip on his shoulder and appears to hate his job, the world, and everyone in it. 10 thumbs down!

Professor Moody is by far the worst professor I have ever encountered. I speak on behalf of my peers, when I say stay away from this class. Grade weighting is absolutely ridiculous and he beats you mercilessly to the ground with his finals. Only take this if you hate yourself and want to cry yourself to sleep every night. Oh, and class is a snooze.

Math Econ isn't hard, it's just gets boring after writing nonstop for 30 minutes. If you know calculus, it's not that difficult, and you learn the real math backbone to most of your intermediate work. No HW, just a midterm (which he gave a repeat of if you didn't like your 1st grade) and a final. Good for a intro to real econ + necessary math.
